There some really awesome studies and simplification of anatomy with basic volumes in here! Also your lines have such a nice flow. Keep it up!

The progress continues!

I wasn't happy with her hair, so ended up changing it in the morning studies 😅

And hopefully I'll be able to improve on things even further while rendering. But I'm happier-ish w/ the results so far.

And cmon! Line art, so much fun! To me it almost feels like "Ok, the grin part is over, now you get to see the actual thing come to life". Altho the real thing happens after colors, and line-art being the "half-way there".

@gregorya Thanks much! And that's the idea, I'm replacing her tiara w/ those clips. They won't be blue tho, that was just me being lazy in colors just to mark placement in the sketch 😅

More progress on Vivi's line art:

I'll have the adjust the perspective on her vest, but I like how things are going.

And yeah, I know... I've changed her hair.... again! But the other one was too stiff. I like this better 😊

And now to start the scary part (to me at least): rendering!
I haven’t really went to a process of learning it, so it will be my “first time” doing it (in the way I’m planning on approaching the process). Scared but excited at the same time. Wish me luck!

I've finally finished my take on Vivi's fanart challenge.

This was my first time doing a full render. I'm kinda proud of how this turned out but there's still a LOT left to learn. It was a pretty fun exercise, tho.

Now, gotta come up to the daily grind.

Awesome work, Danilo!
Just one thing concerning the light setting: You have three different light sources as far as I can tell: one back left, one top front right and the flame in her hand.
Having her face's front plane be completely in shadow looks a bit off to me, you might want to put the left half into the light.

Hello Friends!

Oh wow, it's been forever since last I came to the forum.
I'm working on a children's book w/ my wife and I've been all steam ahead working on that. I don't really share a lot of that here because it's not really content about ArtSchool, so I don't want make you bored to death w/ it

I started playing around w/ a new character for the book, that ended up being too detailed for it (I think), but I think I'm gonna go all the way here (probably w/ simplified rendering/cel-shading, I guess).

@kevinbui333 reference photos for the pose you mean? Or something else?
For poses, I usually build up a library on Pinterest, but if you sign up for the Proko's newsletter, you can receive a free sample of his Pose Package. For a free package it has a lot of images so it's quite good. For the Vivi character I actually used a pose from Zelda (game) as reference.

Colors turning out a bit... disappointing 😅
Tried to do it without any reference, but not happy AT ALL w/ the results, even cheating with the cel-shading.

Well.. if anything, still lots to learn. Let's keep going, one day at a time 💪
I park this for now and revisit in the future.

Decided to give the rendering process another shot.

It doesn’t look good (and I’m not saying this out of self-pity, it’s just the honest truth) but I learned a few things in the process, so it’s a valid experience.
