I'm on week 5 of term one. And I think week 5 is going to take me 2-3 weeks. I finished my 5th character study. And I have 5 more to go...

This is another study from Chrissie Zullo. I love her style!

I also did 2 full figure drawings. Following the weekly study guide, I'm supposed to do one a day. So that should be 7.

The full figure drawings and the character studies take me forever, so it looks like I'll be on week 5 for a bit.

I'm a bit behind on my posting. I've been plugging away at week 5. I've been on week 5 for two weeks, and it will probably take me a couple of more days.

Here is my seventh character study (only 3 more to go!) Everything about this was ridiculously difficult. I spent so much time on it. What was I thinking!

And here are 3 figure drawings (lesson #7). These have been a struggle. I like to think that in time, drawing the figure will get easier. And the face, hands and feet.

And figure drawing assignment #4. He said to either use photo reference or from imagination. No way am I able to do these from imagination (yet). I used a photo reference (NOT tracing)

I still need to do 4 more character studies. I'm about half done with the one I'm working on. But, I did move on to week six. Next big assignment I'm going to work on is perspective assignment #3, interior room in perspective. I'll get the character studies done eventually.

Somewhere I lost track of how many character studies I've don. This is my seventh character, study. Right now I'm working on the perspective assignment and the 1st environmental study. I'll get to the rest of the character studies eventually.

I'm on week 7 of term 1. I'm spending week 7 trying to get caught up on week 5 and 6. I'm plodding away at the assignment to draw a room in perspective. It's taking me a stupid amount of time. It will get done when it gets done.

I finished the first environmental study. And I'm off to work on another character study.

Hey you're doing some great work! Keep at it, it definitely gets easier

When you draw the figures from reference, are you first drawing in the major volumes, spine and joint positions? I feel that helps immensely, also, I note that almost every line (almost) on the figure is some form of convex curve and do note that where the lines are thicker attention is drawn - it helps to add weight to lines that intersect and lines that go in "darker" places based on how the figure is shaded

Thank-you very much for your comments and input! Drawing the major volumes, yes but the rest no. I will have to be more diligent in the future. Like weight, I need to work on that a lot.

I have a couple more things to post. The first one is a combo environmental study, character study. Not exactly keeping with the assignments, but I liked the character in this one a lot and it would have made no sense without the environment.

And the next one is the assignment for drawing a room in 1-point perspective. This took me way too long. There were false starts, and I'm still learning the software (Krita). Hopefully 2-point perspective building won't take as long.

I want to maybe revisit this at a later date, there are some things I would do different. There needs to be exterior looking out the windows and skylights. Right now they look more like wall panels than windows.

At some point I would like to turn it into some sort of painting. Although the lighting would be way beyond my abilities at the moment.

Term 1 is winding down. I hope to start Term 2 early next week. Although, I may start watching the Term 2 videos over the week end.

I finished all my character studies! Yay! Took me forever. Here are the last two:

Done with Term 1! Okay I haven't done "Review Term 1 Progress" yet, I plan on doing that this afternoon.

But, I got the final three environmental studies done. Yay! Here they are and the art I studied/copied:

Last week I binged watched all the videos for Term 2. Oh my, overload! I did make note of a lot of time stamps, because there is no way all that information was absorbed. I did all the "Photoshop" assignments, except for the brush assignment. I'm using Krita and not Photoshop. A lot of time was spent watching YouTube videos to figure out how to do the assignments in Krita. And, creating brushes in Krita make my brain hurt. I'll figure that out later.

I've also been doing the figure dailies and gesture drawing. I did the self-portrait. Ugh, not posting that.

I'm posting the vector monsters - they are silly, but they were fun to work on. And I'm also posting the game box. I'm kind of meh about it.

Went on vacation for a couple of weeks. Been back a few days, trying to sort out where I'm at with Art School. I worked on a lot of assignments while I was gone. Weeks 2 and 3 for Term 2 are done. I've done parts of weeks 4, 5 and 6. I haven't finished any of the perspective assignments. It is much easier for me to do on my computer, which I didn't have with me. Currently I'm working on perspective assignment 1.

Here are the character head studies from week 2. They are done with pencil and finished with a Micron pen.

One of the week 3 assignments - portrait study. Done in pencil. I couldn't fit the entire thing on my scanner, and I couldn't get a good photo of it.
