Term 1 is winding down. I hope to start Term 2 early next week. Although, I may start watching the Term 2 videos over the week end.

I finished all my character studies! Yay! Took me forever. Here are the last two:

I have 3 more environmental studies to do, and Term 1 will be done!

Done with Term 1! Okay I haven't done "Review Term 1 Progress" yet, I plan on doing that this afternoon.

But, I got the final three environmental studies done. Yay! Here they are and the art I studied/copied:

Last week I binged watched all the videos for Term 2. Oh my, overload! I did make note of a lot of time stamps, because there is no way all that information was absorbed. I did all the "Photoshop" assignments, except for the brush assignment. I'm using Krita and not Photoshop. A lot of time was spent watching YouTube videos to figure out how to do the assignments in Krita. And, creating brushes in Krita make my brain hurt. I'll figure that out later.

I've also been doing the figure dailies and gesture drawing. I did the self-portrait. Ugh, not posting that.

I'm posting the vector monsters - they are silly, but they were fun to work on. And I'm also posting the game box. I'm kind of meh about it.

Went on vacation for a couple of weeks. Been back a few days, trying to sort out where I'm at with Art School. I worked on a lot of assignments while I was gone. Weeks 2 and 3 for Term 2 are done. I've done parts of weeks 4, 5 and 6. I haven't finished any of the perspective assignments. It is much easier for me to do on my computer, which I didn't have with me. Currently I'm working on perspective assignment 1.

Here are the character head studies from week 2. They are done with pencil and finished with a Micron pen.

One of the week 3 assignments - portrait study. Done in pencil. I couldn't fit the entire thing on my scanner, and I couldn't get a good photo of it.

It came out okay. The proportions for the nose and chin are off - a little long. Drawing and reference photo:

good work! it can be really hard with graphite! but it's great for details. I find 10B soft pencils (I get mine from Hi-Uni mitsubishi on amazon) are good for getting the darker values

Since I've been back from vacation, my motivation has lagged a bit. I still have things I haven't posted.

I've been spending a lot of time on the 3-point perspective assignment. I think I'm close to finishing it.

Here are 5 heads drawn from imagination. They are kind of blah. BUT, I would have never been able to draw them at all if it wasn't for this class. When I get to the "add hair" assignment, I'll fix them up in Krita (I hope).

I think I'm done with the first perspective assignment. Going to think about it and post it in a couple of days. I'm working on the second perspective assignment, and I ran into problems, but I think I'm squared away now. Get that done and I should be done with week 5.

Here are the 10 heads from photo references. Some are better than others. A couple are almost likenesses. And some well, not so good. But they are overall better than I was able to do 2-3 months ago.

I just finished up perspective assignment #2. So I am mostly done up through week 5. Having a little bit of trouble with Anatomy assignment #4, drawing the head from memory. I reviewed a lot of the anatomy video over the last few days. I can draw a head, but I can't seem to add the shading. Worked on it last night, oh what a hot mess!

Anyway, I moving on. I'll continue draw heads from reference and imagination.

So here are perspective assignments #1 and #2. Hopefully someday I can manage to do some rendering on these.

Wow! Thank-you so much for your critique! I'm posting my perspective drawing without all the details. I messed up a lot of the perspective when I added the details. I see now too how off the arches on the right look (I had a lot of problems with them). And it looks better without the tower on the right. Thank-you for your critique!

Eventually, I want to make this into a finished painting. I'll make corrections (it may be a bit before I get to it) and re-post.

Looking at the bare bones drawing, the arches need a lot more work.

Getting close to being done with week 6. The only thing I haven't finished is the portrait (working on it).

Week 7 Marc says "have fun practicing whatever you’d like or working on personal art". I'm thinking of working on the "100 Head Challenge". It's a challenge where you are supposed to draw 100 heads in 10 days. I'm still way too slow drawing heads to do 100 in 10 days. But I thought I would see if I can do maybe 35 in a week? We will see. I may also download blender and do a couple of tutorials. Again, we will see.

So here is perspective assignment number 3. I had an awful time with it. My lack of knowledge of anatomy made this assignment difficult. The feet and hands are awful.

I practiced hair all week, then worked on my faces from imagination. I added hair to them, did my final line art and here they are:
