I think that this is overall oversimplified. And that is normal when starting out. You seem to be trying a few different approaches, creating a general head shape structure before, even trying to understand the anatomy. And this is great, it is nice to see that effort. However, when I see your drawings, there are simply too many white voids on the page. Your eyes are a mere three strokes and a dot, and the same could be said about the individual parts you made.
I think what you are mainly lacking, are the facial planes. Even though you are using this big circle to simplify the head, and the big circle around the ears to show how flat that part is--it isn't enough to show the head in a 3d form. This means that you are simplifying things without understanding the shapes first.
Here is some picture I stole off google; it shows how different our facial planes are, how everything has thickness, even the eyelids. Our faces are not flat, so it is mainly why things look weird. What I think would help you, would be to start hatching and shading to understand the facial planes. This way, you're forced to make the values look right--and understand how our face actually works in a 3d space. Before jumping into that though, looking at skulls would help.
Anyway, hope this was helpful!
