Well, I am just trying to set some kind of routine that helps me get in a right state of mind for work coz I'm a bit messed up ever since I quit my job.
I've recently switched from listening music in my headphones to listening it with my speakers, as when I paint some music just gets too annoying and speakers are further from my ears so it is easier now. And I'm getting back on track slowly.

And yes-yes I'm thinking to maintain this funny gesture and the face. I want it to be a bit like those classical paintings where people have ambiguous expressions haha

Awesome! Glad that you're getting back on track

I look forward to see what you do with that merman.

Since I've started this painting in greyscale and i tried to use gradient maps and It just ended up being not as i wanted it to be in terms of colours I had to seek a different approach. And It just seemed too time consuming to do a paintover on top of gradient maps

I decided to go back in with a lineart and then do some colouring by selecting different planes of my picture and having them at different layers for now.

I am still figuring the stuff out. Never like the hands -> need to search for references.
(if you by any chance have a reference of the hand from this angles that i have, pls hlep )

and now that im posting it here i see that chest muscles are a bit too high and at a wrong angle

Hopefully I will finish this piece soon.

I am in love with this mermaid piece ! can't wait to see how it will look at the end !

Haha! You're welcome. I'm glad I could help

You did a great job

1 month later

I am back from my holidays. Oh boy it is hard to get back on track.
I have a bit too much in my hands atm so I've decided to start with a little study with a ref screenshot from "Mary Queen of Scots" film.
I was mainly focused at understanding how foreground and background work

1 month later

some hands, idk im still processing how it all works out

Nice hands. I need to practice hands myself. I feel so bad at them.

29 days later

thanks!
And nope, just some hands from the Net

Hi, Hello!
It's been a while for me that I've been around this forum but hopefully im gonna be sticking around here again
Here's a portrait of a handsome man.
I tried to eyeball most of it in terms of value and I used oldschool measurement technique when I was sketching the base for it.

Great job! I appreciate the dramatic lighting on her  Your values are so clean!
