Hey there! New to the forums, my name is Ericka and I'm a beginner self taught artist from México. Here I'll upload almost every weekend (mostly sketches and studies, since I'm trying to focus on my fundamentals).Feedback is appreciated and welcome! Now let's start with some ramen studies, since I want to get better at texture, line and form.
Welcome Ericka, nice start, and.. Is that an eye? The corncob and the Hakodate are really well done, hope to see more of your works
Welcome! Ramen studies...
Welcome aboard! Lovely sketches so far. Looking forward to see what else you have in store for us
@Gyruum Thanks for your kind words!@ragamuffin Yep, I'll do more of them in the future@Jamethy Thank you so much, I'll try to be more consistent with my updates in the future.
Now, exam season got me pretty busy, but I managed to finish this:Also, some raw fish studies:I still need to work on my texture and line quality, though.
Very nice works you have here. Are these ink or pencil? If these are pencil then ink on top of that, may I suggest trying straight to ink?I think that food is one of the hardest things to draw. I once tried it myself and it didn't look anything like the reference. But you can do it much better
@mar_cynwer I'm proud to say all of them are straight ink, ball point pen to be more precise.
Looks really nice. I can sense its food even its black and white!Keep posting!
@schmigel Thanks, I'll post here more regularly in the future.
Here's the finished page of my raw fish studies.
Did you see the hayao myazaki spirited away food concepts? Those are very inspiring!
@schmigel Yeah, man! I got the artbook of the movie for my birthday last year, and the thing that stood out the most for me was the flow of the line in the sketches, I would like to replicate that in my work.
More studies from my sketchbook session today
These are great!, Kinda make me hungry but great!, I think they're a great way to study form using only line.
I'm glad to find a fellow artist from México, I would love to see more of your work, keep it up!
Now, now I went for something really crazy today: First time trying out oils and I tried to make some sort of rooster. It's not finished yet, but I realized something while making this... I love oils! It's a pretty relaxing and beautiful technique. (I'll put some close ups here just to show the detail appropriately)
Finished version of this page. I'm not that much happy with the overall result, there's kind of an empty feeling to it in my opinion.
This thread is titled "sketchdump" so I figured I should post some doodles and such.
Long time since my last post, I gotta catch up at least a bit.
Finished the whole page
