this is my first contest! Looks fun. I hope you enjoy Jin, he's been in my head for a couple of days. I wanted to go for something inspired by existing lore with a bit of a spin.

This story is still somewhat in progress, so bare with me. I really like to establish some lore/backstory in order to further characterize my dudes. Here goes:
Jin, The Spirit Blade, hails from a small village nestled in the midst of a great forest somewhere in the Hokkaido region of Japan. As humans began to migrate further away from the countryside to join the hustle and bustle of city life, the Yokai of this region began to disappear -- some joining the flock, some vanishing altogether. Jin remained in his village as the peoples sole guardian, worshiped for his great power, although he was just as loyal to the villagers as they were to him.
One day, Jin traveled away from the village to greet the river that fell from the mountain. In his absence, the village was raided by a band of gangsters from the city looking for ancient, expensive treasures. No bountiful treasures were found and in a fit of rage, their leader called out to his men: "Burn the whole village!" His violent declaration echoed across the forest canopy, ringing in the ears of the Spirit Blade. Jin ran to his village as fast as four feet could carry him, only to find it reduced to tinder.
The Spirit Blade called forth his loyal accessories, two sets of three silver blades. They hovered at his side, controlled by the motions of his hands, and were given no time to idle once Jin discovered the fleeting whereabouts of his victims. One by one they were ripped apart and put to death in the name of vengeance. As Jin traveled further from the village in pursuit of the raiders, he came across a horrible realization: his village had not been the only one burned to the ground. All across the region, villages had been destroyed in the name of greed. Devastated, but still burning with vengeance, Jin made it his mission to destroy the source of greed which resulted in innocents demise.
