Finishing the coloring of the environment... After the concept and defined color script, I prefer to color the scenery first, because I use the colors of it as overall illumination for the characters in the scene.
I used the following complementary colors for light, green, blue and yellow.
But there were many tests to find the colors, which I will publish in the final processes of everything.

After the concept defined with thumbnails and etc, my style of digital painting,
I try to take the possible of what I know of traditional painting... I always start with the environment and I paint the parts separately, it makes me gain time. As in an example in the photo of a traditional painting, made to test techniques, below:

For the hero, main character, I used the Rembrandt style of lighting.
( Rembrandt lighting ).
Final phase, three characters in the scene, each day ends the shader, material and lights, one per day. I will spend three days coloring and retouching the characters, so the set is always colored first. This helps me over time, I really enjoy working with achromatic values, just like I like to do in traditional painting.
- In fact, my dream is to understand the maximum this technique in digital painting, because it makes me gain time. I do not like too many layers and many nonsense colors on the screen, until I get the final result. The achromatic values makes it easy to change colors when you want. The achromatic values already help me decide, what color on the color wheel I will need. But it is just one of many techniques that exist and should be explored.

Nice reference with Rembrandt, push more in this direction if you like it. He often has more contrast than you have in his value or sometimes his characters are plain "black" or "white".
