The screaming Faces are Nice
But at the same Moment they drag a lot attention away from your Champion.(maybe Thats what you want than its Fine.)
If not you should try giving the most contrast in the area near her face and do some less contrast in the area of the screaming faces.

this is the current state of the illustration... i don't feel the hand anymore and i'm a bit tired of seeing this all the time so i'm focusing more on the character sheet of the horse the next hours

some comp variations, and below the viewer scheme

i'm happy that somehow it works both flipped and non, the non flipped version has a more hostile feeling rather than the one coming from the left

progress, tweaked the comp (horse direction [having it this way helps the read and conveys the viewer's attention much more easily], heads, and tilting), added some fx, i wanted to stay away as much as possible from glowing things but... i couldn't resist.. they are like candies.. in the end i decided to keep some of them just to give a boost to the image, now that i have added/changed some elements it is time to give it a last level of overall polish

Great work!
As for being tired - there is plenty of time to leave it as it is for awhile, paint something else and come back with fresh eye and strength restored.
By the way - your Concept Sheet looks amazing too - there's a lot going on! But you may have a problem with one of "2D Submission Requirements - "Show the front and back of your final design". Just thought that I'll point it out when there is still time.

Anyway - as I wrote - great work!

You have a unique and very expressive style. And the darkness... There's twisted darkness everywhere in your image. I have no doubts which side did you choose. I also like the whole process of creating (very well documented in your thread) and some other possibilities in your thumbnails. Well done!
