Hello Everyone! I'm getting into this a little late but it was a great experience last time. I'm happy this has become a annual competition! For this contest I'm leaning on the Dark side, with a witch/necromancer. As always feedback is appreciated

Corvina the Raven Witch Origins
Once a pure druid, Corvina only practiced her gifts of magic for healing and contemplation. She remained in the forest with her kind, far away from the influence of the City Solas, with their self-righteous King Eamon and his imposing holy knights. It wasn't until the day the King fell ill that they turned to the forest. The people blamed Corvina for cursing him, and burned her family, forest, and everything within. Filled with wrath Corvina prayed to The Morrigan, goddesses of Death. They answered her call, possessing her body and taking flight over the battlefield in the form of a Raven. She raises the dead to fight for her, and all who lock into her gaze are paralyzed with fear. She now lives between the world of the living and the world of the dead, serving darkness and destruction to those who have wronged her.

This is my final image. A special thanks to all those who followed my progress, liked, or commented. It really encouraged me to keep going! And good luck fellow artists!

I combined the parts I liked about A and C to make this concept as suggested. I want her color scheme to be purple/black/green, so I may make her hair darker in the future. For now I'm pretty happy with it

I love the fluidity of your designs! The poses show the proper body language that reveals how confident she is in wielding in her power. I love all of the dress designs, but A and C are my favorite. I may like A just because it seems to be the most polished and detailed, but C appeals to me because I the effect of feathers in a dress could be a very cool effect. I look forward to seeing more!

i also think a and c are the best ones! Try mixing them, or adding some feather-style to the first one.

These are some great concepts! I can't wait to see the finished design!
Do you have a face model in mind? Or am I the only one who designs characters based on real peoples features? haha

I only ask because I think Morfydd Clark would be great in this role

Nice sketches. In the neckline, C and especially D are my favorites, as they seem more uncommon and thus more original. I like the shoulder-pieces on A because they break up the silhouette the most. There's something kind of mysterious and sexy about not seeing any skin with D's costume, but they're all quite nice. Good luck whichever you choose, and have fun!

About the design I think A is the best, but C and D have stuff related to ravens which would help a lot building your character.

Thanks! I can see a strong resemblance with Morfydd, especially in the eye shape. Gathering references is definitely the smart thing to do. I've been drawing mostly from my head but I am inspired by Bridget Regan from Legend of the Seeker, and Katie Mcgrath from Merlin. I really love my campy fantasy shows

The past couple weeks have been a bit rough. My computer fried so it's been shipped out for repairs. Thankfully my husband is letting me use his in the meantime. I hit a real art block too, but I'm not letting it stop me. I've been struggling with her face. When I flipped the canvas I realized it was warped to one side. So I tried to make adjustments...

For a while I seemed to be getting further and further from my vision but I finally managed something I like. I think it's time to move away from her face and focus on other things.

Ah man, computer problems are the worst. Hope you can get them solved soon! Your illustration is coming along really well, though I do feel it lacks some depth (in the sense of colour and contrast). Is that something you could work with?

Thanks Eve! I agree it needs more depth. I'm planning on adding magic lighting effects too, so I'll have to plan the shadows accordingly. Adding to the background could help too, maybe the remains of the burnt forest or a battlefield?

The lighting really helped give that creepy Dark side vibe I'm going for. I omitted one of the birds because it felt crowded but I haven't touched the background yet, so maybe I can add him further in the distance?

The green works really well, and I get why you would go with two birds instead of one. You could draw it in the background, but I have to say; just two birds would be fine. Good luck!
