Hi all,

Super pumped for this year's ArtWar.

Verin is a mercenary demon that fights for the light against her own kind. She wields her massive cleaver to take on significantly larger foes.

I'm a little bummed because pc issues kept me from getting the background done for this. But I really love how this turned out regardless. I hope you like it, and thanks for taking the time to judge my work!

Made an effort at posing the final illustration. I'm dreading painting the background, but I'm going for a moonbathed battlefield vibe. I'm putting heavy emphasis on eye contact, and leading the viewer towards Verin's face.

As always, feedback would be awesome.

Great concept for your character, and the final pose is really dynamic. The eyes are a bit close together in your last sketch, but the eye contact is working really well. Good luck with refining it more!

Her weapon design is so cool. I'm really looking forward to seeing how you implement the colors in the final illustration!

Thanks for the feedback guys! I'm working on the design some more, and may scrap the battlefield piece and try something that focuses more on Verin and shows off her sword and armor a little better.

I also spent more time on her boots, I'm trying to pull in the runed armor look from the sword to make the look more punchy.

Roughing in the colours. I can't decide on the blade colour, leaning towards a silver with a damascus steel texture.

Thanks I totally agree but I'm still getting used to lighting, values and cast shadows etc. So I opted to make it look as good as possible with the skills I've already got under my belt. Hopefully by next year I'll be able to have a much more refined piece.
