Finally the whole thing starts to come together.
Fixed the mesh. Gave him some materials. Now he is mostly clean and smooth.

I still need to refine some of the parts of the mesh, but i wont change too much anymore.

From here on out I'll mostly work on the materials. They need quite a lot more work before i can call the whole thing somewhat presentable.

tbh the design looks stiff, but damn , the execution is great

@archsider Thanks. Yea i agree he does look a bit stiff but it is mostly because he is in a neutral pose. Hopefully he will look a bit mightier when i position him properly.

Time for another update
Adjusted the colors some more. Cleaned up some of the UVs. Started with the first layer of surface imperfections.

Next I'll add more and more surface imperfections. He fought and won many battles and i want him to look the part.

So much to do, so little time. However i still think i can finish the project on time...Hopefully

For now just a small update.
Added some bolts. The bronze parts are now pressed tightly into the gold parts.
Welded all of the sun parts to the armor. Now they look like they belong together.
Adjusted the roughness values. The whole thing was a bit too shiny for my taste.

Next I'll add some smaller scratches everywhere. He also needs one big scratch that looks like a scar across his chest. Right now it feels a bit flat and empty.
Afterwards I'll finish it off with some dirt / dust / sand.

I still have to texture the weapon but since i already prepared most of the materials it should not take too long.

Well i guess I'm pretty much done texturing the big guy. Might improve smaller stuff if i see anything necessary. I wanted him to look like he has been in many wars and just came out of a fight.

Next step will be finishing his weapon.
Afterwards i should be able to start working on the final render.

The finish line is not far off. I'm getting a bit anxious. I've been working on this guy for a few month and now he is nearly done. I hope i don't stumble on the final stretch.

Well, i completely finished texturing my fighter.
Beaten and bruised yet always victorious. While he is on the side of light it does not mean his weapon is not supposed to look menacing and dangerous.

Now it's time to position him properly.

Overall I'm quite happy with how he turned out.

Here we are now pretty much at the end of the road.
The character is finished and positioned properly.

The only thing left is to create a better final render.
A ground for shadows and maybe some background stuff would be nice.

We do have some more time, but i think i won't change much anymore.

I started playing with the light.
I want the whole thing to feel like it is the evening after the first battle of the war. Flames in front of him. The moon high in the sky. Something like that.
The floor is a placeholder for now. Already working on the actual thing.

Not much time left and so much stuff that i want to add. Guess I'll have to drop some of the ideas i had for the final render.

I think this will be my final version.
I am absolutely happy with how everything looks. I wont change anything, unless i am not allowed to make the background image the way it is. In that case I'd have to think of something else.

I might add blood or something on to the sand. Not sure yet. I quite like the barren look.

With this i am pretty much done. I still have to wait for the conformation whether or not i am allowed to leave my background the way it is right now. Once that is done I'll update my first post. I still need to add the art war logo and the name to the final image.

For some reason we got 1 more week, but i did not plan to have this much more time so i wont add anything anymore. I guess this is pretty much the end of the road for me.

Well i updated the first post.
With this i am officially done. It has been a fun ride so far and i learned a lot. More importantly while looking at the creations of other participants i understood what i still need to learn.
For me this challenge gave me everything i expected and more.
