This was my first illustration competition. I have a few milestones to reach based on a few of the great submissions I have seen, but it was a good experience. Looking forward to the next Art War, and I will be more active on the forum.

This is my rough wip design set. I want to get across an unhinged feel with a European/Baroque style. I realized neither is coming across well yet.

Going to go with the bottom left design and open to feedback for tweaks in color or design. Not sure if the lack of feedback is because this whole project looks bad or...?

Composition idea. Throne room where Marena uses magic to lift and choke a soldier.

Does the zoom in on the composition look better than the previous post or less of a zoom? Keep the same shot as the previous?

I think I like the zoomed in composition more. It brings more focus to the character. Although I think you may want to consider a lighting scheme that darkens the character on the left while highlighting the main character. good luck!

First of all congrats on your first participation!
Now a few tips:

Use a flat black layer [saturation] on top of your artwork in order to check the values of your piece. pic.2

Add Hard Shadows pic. 3 Use cool colors, not straight Black.

Add Light from the direction of your light source pic.4 Use warm colors not white.

Decide where your focal point is and help it pop from the background.

Hey there! I think you did a lovely job with this piece. I kind of like the composition and how the dynamic this moment is.

I kind of wish the lighting would fit the mood a bit better, the lightening seems a bit harsh and bright (almost like they were on a stage and using a spotlight). For a moment like this maybe a more darker scene would fit better, and the only sources of light could be from the window with a few lit torches (since I notice you have a torch light in the left side, butit doesn't seem to be really bright.)

Other than that I think you still have a strong piece here, probably just need a bit more contrast and I think Kohngard explained better what I am seeing.
