Hey everyone, this is a character design I've been working on recently.

It's a frog scout. I'm eventually going to do an illustration of this dude, but before that, I'm looking for critique on his design whether it's about the shape language, functionality and sensibility, visual aspect, silhouette readability.

One thing I forgot to put on these sheets is the explanation regarding huge white portion of his body. It's not his natural pigmentation. Rather, it's a layer of dye treated with oil applied on their skin to block out heat and sunlight during moments when the sun is sweltering.

These are the initial studies I started with:

Critiques greatly appreciated!

I think the design itself is great, I would go with something different for the cloak and hat, I feel the way you drew the eyes and hands really add to the character and would help improve the silhouette. maybe decrease the size of the cloak at least around the forearms and I would try and do something to make sure the eye bumps are as visible as possible for the silhouette even if you just add a little something to the hat that looks like it. But I am fairly amateur so I could be wrong. But I think it looks great already.

I agree with what you said about the forearms and the eye shape. I'll take your suggestions into consideration. Thank you very much
