Hello! A month ago, I made this ref sheet based on a redesign of my fursona. I'd like critique on the proportions/anatomy, and the design itself. Like... did I go overboard? Could/should I simplify more? Things like that.

For this, I was mainly inspired by League of Legends' PsyOps skinline (Samira's especially) and a little inspired by the Star Guardian skinline.

Yea I can help with the anatomy and stuff. Does the character have a hobby or purpose or skills that would help with the purpose of the design? Looking at this without knowing anything, for example, I don’t know what the spikes out of the back are for. I don’t think you went too far. You can push the sheet a little further too. If you have any other questions about things let me know now and we can address them.

Yeah, she's meant to be a cybernetic military unit (not sure if this is the right wording? I think bioaugmentation also describes it as well??)

It's sort of like how a spinal cord helps coordinate body parts, the back spikes serve the same purpose, it helps her control the cybernetic parts.

What can I add to it?

Okay this is great stuff. I’ll start working on the critique.

Thank you so much, in advance!

My first Impressions:
I think you can probably push the design more actually. Looking at some of the PsyOps designs, I think your design could use more military stuff such as straps and other armor bits.

In terms of Star Guardian inspiration, I'm not really seeing it. The boots also feel misplaced as well in contrast with the rest of the design. Currently the boots feel like a piece of an separate armor set.

My feedback would be to choose one direction and go that way per variant.
1 version push the PsyOps features
2nd version push more of the Star Guardian features(more magical girl)
3rd being the hardest is trying to combine both elements to get something new. These 2 skin types are so different so trying to represent both in one design will be challenging but I think you can do it.

I currently like the different bits of the design. The hair and face are really cool. Your lines aren't to sketchy and are pretty clean. I do like the boots design and if you want, try making a full armor set with similar design elements. The boots really stand out as really cool to me.

Hope this helps and wasn't to harsh or anything. Best of luck.

Yeah, the clothing does seem a little light for the theme I was going for.

Yeah... The only place the inspiration manifested was in the strap of the goggles, I couldn't figure out how to put it anywhere else.

I'll try to push the PsyOps features more, I struggled a lot with trying to integrate Star Guardian features into it.

Thank you!! One thing I really liked about what I did was the hairstyle, I'm glad that someone else liked it too! I'll try sketching an armor set based on the boots.

Your critique was extremely helpful, and I'm thankful for it. Thank you so much.

Future apology for all the miss spellings. Im cramming this in between 10 hour work days. So I may think of something and add it later on. Go check out malcom's blog thread its pretty great.

I may come back and fix them. Check out the other critiques on the forum they are very useful. Keep drawing and participating.

Cheers.

Thank you so so much! I've never gotten such a detailed critique before, I really do appreciate it.

I'll do that!

8 days later

Hello again!! I've made updates to the ref sheet.

I decided to get rid of the cybernetic idea since I couldn't really figure out a way to incorporate it into the design without it looking shoehorned in. I also decided to completely go for the PsyOps vibe, instead of mashing Star Guardian and PsyOps together.

Is this version better?

Definitely! Great follow through!

Ahh I'm glad! Thank you again for your critique!

This is a lot better. :sunglasses: A few things I believe needs to be changed is the shoulder pad and the drawing of the hair on the 3/4 view. It almost feels like a fantasy knight armor pauldron. You can simplify the design shape. Make it similar to the knee pads.
As for the hair, just don't cover the eye. Besides those small things, this came out great. Keep up the great work.

Thanks! I didn't realize that the hair didn't match on both views, oops.. also, okay! I'll simplify the shoulder pad!
