Hello everyone!

This is my first post on the forum, although I have been a member of the site for quite some time and made use of many of the great tutorials available.

At the moment I am working through Marc's "Complete Guide to a Concept Art Career" (which is awesome!). I'm basing my attempt on Marc's project, however trying to put my own spin on it.

Up until the past few months I had never worked digitally whosoever, so any tips or advice you can offer along the way would be very much appreciated!

My plan is to post progress pics along the way, and here is my first initial sketches of my characters.

Hopefully I'll have my initial colours laid out over the next few days. I'd love to hear any feedback on what you think and how I could improve my work!

If anyone would like to see anymore of my art you can find it here;

Hey Scott! I like where this is going, the faces and colors are cool. I think there are some anatomy and pose issues with the women on the left and right though. They have some odd pelvises, if that makes sense.

Hi Kenny, thanks for the feedback!

I worked quite hard on the poses, but yeah I'm sure I could have got the mid sections a little better with some refining! After this I'm going to spend some time working on anatomy in general, I'm a bit rusty and out of practice when it comes to the basics of drawing as I've spent so many months trying to learn how to work digitally.

Comment noted though and hopefully my next projects will benefit from some anatomy studies :smile:

Ok so I think I've just about completed the first stage! I took onboard the advice and tweaked my pelvis's ever so slightly, and I've painted in the details. Would love to know what anyone's thoughts are, and also see the progress of anyone else who has started the course :grinning:

10 days later

Hi everyone! Just finished the next stage which was to give my little warrior some first stage armour. I've done that now, and experimented with a few colour trials.

I think now I've taken as much as I can from the tutorial as the next stage is more of the same - just adding heavier armour. However I have learned so much through the process and I think I now possess the skills to put my own ideas into action.

My plan now will to be improve on my anatomy and general drawing skills, then use this process to generate my own concept characters.

I had hoped for more feedback on this thread, and to see the work of others who have been following the tutorial. Hopefully my next thread with my own personal art will get some more feedback and I can use that to further improve. :grinning:
