Lilith Aensland (2020)

A succubus is a demon or supernatural entity in folklore, in female form, that appears in dreams to seduce men, usually through sexual activity. In modern representations, a succubus is often depicted as a beautiful seductress or enchantress, rather than as demonic or frightening.

Reinterpretation of Capcom's Lilith. I wanted to split and showcase her with a deceiving form and her true succubus nature.

The Last Plague (2019)

“This is what the Lord says: ‘About midnight I will go throughout Egypt. Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the female slave, who is at her hand mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well [...] When the Lord goes through the land to strike down the Egyptians, he will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down." (Exodus 11:4 - 12:23)

This piece portrays the Angel of Death eerily making his way through Egypt, taking every first-born who is not sheltered behind a doorframe covered with blood.

First Plague (2020)

"Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord had commanded. He raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was changed into blood" (Exodus 7:20)

This piece describes the intense shock an Egyptian lady experiences right during the Nile River turning into blood.

Appendicitis (2020)

Appendicitis is a painful swelling of the appendix. Symptoms include pain around the navel and then on the lower right side of the abdomen, accompanied by nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and fever. If untreated, the appendix can burst and secrete pus and cause a systemic infection; in that case, surgical intervention is required.

This piece was inspired by my brother who recently had this medical issue. I wanted to capture that intense abdominal pain I've read about, and that he felt before the surgery. All his feedback guiding this project was really usefull.

Belladona dirt kid (2020)

Also known as deadly nightshade, it’s a poisonous perennial herbaceous plant. The foliage and berries are extremely toxic when ingested with a vast array of unpredictable symptoms, some of which can be even deadly.

Personal interpretation of Timothy Von Rueden's dirtkid original character. I chose this plant because it made a very contrasting concept (cute little kid but quite deadly plant), and the flower itself is significantly pretty

This piece evokes that dark and tragic feeling of longing for someone, or something, and knowing that you'll never have them again.

The Great Hall (2020)

"Oh but don't you see it's no good!" said Digory. "We can't get out of it now. We shall always be wondering what else would have happened if we had struck the bell. I'm not going home to be driven mad by always thinking of that. No fear!"

Moments before Digory, against Polly's better judgment, strikes the bell and unleashes a quite catastrophic chain of events. This occurs in chapter 4, a few pages after the "The Courtyard" piece.

El Charro Negro (2020)

Bound by a devilish deal, el Charro roams the streets at night in search for those who have a debt with the devil. He carries with him a pouch of coins which he offers to those who may encounter him. Legend has it that he who accepts the pouch will take el Charro's place as the messenger of the devil until another unfortunate soul accepts it.

The Alluring Maidens (2020)

Half-birds, half-beautiful maidens, the sirens were singing enchantresses capable of luring passing sailors to their islands, and, subsequently, to their doom. It was said that the sirens' dwelling place was a ghastly sight to behold; a great heap of bones lay all around them, and a copious amounts of shipwrecks surrounding them. Their most notable mentions are in "The Odyssey" by Homer, and the story about the abduction of Persephone.

Digital illustration depicting the beautiful and gracefull, yet decieving sirens. Inspiration for this piece came from the common misconception that the sirens and the mermaids are the same creatures, so I wanted to shed a light on that very notorious difference.

Sugar Plum Fairy (2020)

Ruler of the Land of Sweets, the Sugar Plum Fairy welcomes Clara and the Nutcracker at their arrival. While her dance is elegant and full of grace, a dark feeling lingers within herself, as this Land of Sweets is frigidly cold, hardening her sugary skin evermore, seemingly like frostbite.

First illustration inspired by "The Nutcracker". I wanted to contrast the elegance and beauty of the Sugar Plum Fairy (character from the second act of the ballet), and the music, with the darker feeling of cold and eerieness.

Rat King (2020)

An oppressive ruler seeking to gain control over a magical kingdom. He became successful by transforming the prince into a wooden nutcracker, thus overthrowing him. His plan became foiled when the prince rebels with an army against his dominion, waging into battle against each other.

Second piece inspired by "The Nutcracker". This time exploring the Rat King through a darker and more sinister design.

The Nutcracker (2020)

Once a prince, he was turned into a toy nutcracker by the Rat King. Later he got injured by Fritz, breaking his toy jaw. After a heated battle against the Rat King, he ultimately regained contorl of his kingdom and turned back into his human form... although some injuries didn't go away in the process.

Third Christmas piece for this season (2020). I wanted the Nutcracker to be darker as well while avoiding the way-too-monster-like look.

Clara Stahlbaum (2020)

The little Clara received a beautiful nutcracker as a Christmas present. Later that very night, she found herself in a dramatic and magical adventure, in the middle of a battle for a kingdom, and traveled to a land of sweets... or did she? Perhaps it was all the fantasies of a poor delusional girl and her severe condition.

Fourth and last piece for the 2020 Christmas season. It was slightly hard to land on a darker take but ultimately decided for a mental angle. Plus, the other characters from this season make a small cameo in this illustration.

WandaVision ❤️ (2021)

I really loved Wandavision so much that I had to paint something about it.
How was House of M adapted as sitcoms, the attention to detail in replicating each era through costume, set design, camera work, acting and gestures, her griefing proccess and of course her final look are all things I absolutely loved, and I couldn't get enough of it
