HELP Im a beginner at backgrounds!

Okay so this is the first time I've posted here so hello! But yes, Im a beginner at backgrounds, having just been focusing on anatomy and shading exclusively for the past months and being at stick figure level a year ago. So I was wondering how I could do better next time, here's my ref I used btw and here's the piece Im using CSP and dont exactly know which brushes I should've used for all the little details. ADDITIONALLY, how exactly should I go about perspective studies?? Should I draw a bunch of simple forms, maybe make a body out of forms like a robot, or do 1st,2nd,3rd, etc point perspective (and with or without the perspective ruler helping me?!)

Like you said, Start simple and work your way up to doing a study like this. Start with drawing and shading simple shapes. Start with a few one point perspective studies and work your way up to 3 point.

As far as what you can do now with this current study is to try and render individual parts.

One thing i've heard about making environments is to not render every detail. Its better to suggest details with simple shapes. Focus detail towards the focal point. Everything else can be a bit blurry/less defied.

Hmmmm alright, I’ll try to simplify more, but for perspective practice, should I use the perspective ruler that automatically makes every line go perfectly to the vanishing point, or should I do it naturally?

Both are fine. The final result is what matters. Being able to do it by hand is important for speed. It also helps the process feel less mundane in my opinion when you can just draw what your thinking so practicing free hand and clean up later with clean lines.
