Improvements for this character concept?

Hello! I recently did this character concept for a friend. I'm happy with the result but I'm also sure it doesn't look as good or professional as other concepts out there.

I'd really appreciate any kind of feedback, possible improvements or flaws of the drawing. Thanks!

I think 3 things you can work on here are
1. Line work - this area isn't as consistent as it could be. Right now its a bit amateur with how you handle line weights.
2. Values/Lighting - Some area are just to dark. For concept art, make sure everything is easy to make out. This is why you'll notice in most concept art, its easy to get a read on everything about the design. Design is always first. Readability is very important.
3. Colors - This almost goes hand and hand with values. Things feel a bit muted at the moment. I recommend studying guilty gear strive characters. Arc system muted the colors from there last game gg xrd but the characters in strive still look awesome. The characters still have areas where they pop out at you. Thats an effect you'll want as well.
4 Bonus - Anatomy. You can clean up your shapes an make them clearer like the feet for example.
Simple designs aren't bad but they need to be able to tell nice a subtle stories about the character. I feel like parts of that story for your character come through. Only thing that kinda bothers me but its not a big deal is the big ear ring. Is it magical? Its big and right next to the face so i'm thinking there is some kind of purpose to it.
Overall I think the storytelling aspect works but you can work on cleaning other parts of the design up can making things easier to read. Also darken the background to a neutral gray can help.
