oh gosh! it's been about 5 months since I last posted!
I went back to college and am done with my semester! So I'll continue this course! Here's what I've been doing for the past 5 months!
I have a figure drawing/anatomy class so my focus has been drawing figures! it's my first life drawing class, so it's been really fun! It's honestly the only class I looked forward to the entire semester as it made me realize that I love drawing. My professor has been great at teaching, he often walks around to look at your work and gives personal demos and advice. He recently told me that my figure drawings are great, which made me very happy since I had such low confidence in my ability to capture form and movement. However, he also advised me to practice drawing over the form by drawing boxes and cylinders. I need to break down the figures into simple 3d forms and understand the perspective more. The more I draw, the more I realize that my fundamentals are quite weak! Now I know that's what I really need to work on! I'm also looking for summer life drawing classes to improve more! Overall, I think I've improved a lot since the start of this semester! Here are some of my figure drawings from Jan to May!

As for personal artwork... Honestly, I haven't drawn that much for myself so I didn't improve that much. But I'm challenging myself to work on drawing backgrounds! I rarely draw backgrounds since I suck at perspective and putting multiple characters in one space. Here's my only personal work this entire semester. I drew this in April. Now that I look at it, the anatomy is kind of wack but that's okay! I had a lot of fun drawing it and learned a lot.

Instead of personal work, I drew other people's ocs! My animation club had a semester-long art fight, so I joined in! But I only really got to draw during the last 2 days before it ended. I never drew so many pieces.. Here's some of the artwork I did during that art fight. They're pretty rushed tho!

Also, animations are super fun to draw out, but I never finish them!

Overall, while I didn't improve that much in the past 5 months, it was very fun to draw from life. From now on, I need to focus on fundamentals, perspective, composition, and creating dynamic poses! I also have the goal of incorporating more visual storytelling and expanding my use of color. I also want to do facial expression studies since my expressions are often quite stiff!
For this summer, I want to build an actual portfolio! I'm looking forward to continuing this course and getting far into it! (*οΌβοΌ)οΎ
