Welcome to the forums!!
Thank you! I didn't notice all 3 of those had huge smiles until I read the comment so I'm happy you like them!
Thanks for sharing your point of view on joining this, makes me motivated to keep posting and drawing, see you around!
Happy to be here!
First week stuff, I misread the document went ahead of myself to do the liquify/cloning exercise as well but that's fine, off to a neat start I'd say. I already have some pen control since this is obviously not my first time using a table so I took this pen control exercise as a chance to practice faster and more direct strokes instead of slowly going at it, circles were great to train the entire arm as it's really important to not stick with the wrist or the fingers alone.I've never used curves or editad values before so I was a bit worried about that assignment but it was actually really fun!
I joined the Discord server and after chatting with some people in the Term 1 chat I got a better picture of how I'm gonna aproach it seeing how I already have some drawing skills from before, I'm not just gonna skip content like that but if I do see things that feel easy for me I won't give them as much priority when it comes to practicing. With that being said, here's a bunch of recent stuff I've made for the assignments. I won't be posting every single thing because if I had to put every single daily pen control practice or bunch of cilinders they'd eat up the whole board before getting to the good part! And my wall of text is already filler enough.
Days 3 and 4 of gesture drawing + A little drawing for myself! I think I overdid it in terms of quantity on the fourth day, I really really need to work on my bad habit of suddenly crunching tasks and maybe space them out a bit throughout the day (My hand kinda hurts after doing so many gestures in a row). There's a bunch of gestures in this topic now, does anyone have any advice or critiques about them?
Trying my hand out at a bit of perspective, chiseling some cubes, there's also a bunch of new pen control exercise I'm doing. I'm sadly kinda behind when it comes to the character lineart copying assignment but I don't seem to be the only one haha, I'll keep them up and hopefully finish them this week, I couldn't sit down to draw for a couple of days so I'll probably extend this a bit
ooh nice studies
Thank you!
I've been lacking enegry/motivation recently so I haven't been doing as much and I'll have to go for a trip soon so I won't be near the tablet but here's some of what I've been doing, bit of perspective shapes and 2 more character lineart copies, gonna sprinkle a bit of personal art like fanart and stuff because why not, drawnig is drawing and this is still important
Look noice so far! Why not for your next trip, buy a travel sketchbook/journal and use it to do some quick doodles/drawings? It can be anything that intrigues you for a second (e.g. car, scenery). That way, you don't have to worry about your lack of motivation the next time you can work with your tablet.
eyy these look good
Thank you! And yes that's a great idea, I have one around and I'm not sure if I'll have enough time during the trip to relax and get into the drawing mindset but I'll try out some stuff to keep the hand moving
Thanks a lot!
Hello everyone! Sorry for the absence, life stuff happened and it's been difficult for me to get back to anything, things turned out fine so I'm gonna start gearing up to continue with the weekly planning. I hope you're all doing great with your progress, I'll make another proper post about Art School assignments later this week. In the meantime, take a look at these Monster Hunter sketches I tried to do for fun!
As promised here's a couple of exercise so far this week, 5 minute poses (In which I'm focusing more on getting the actual proportions right rather than adding detail) and some random shapes and volumes drawing
Room assignment, not sure if I should add more to it or what should I change but since it's my first time doing something like this I don't want to feel overwhelmed and spend too much timeAny feedback is welcome
You have a tangents here. (red circles) You want to avoid them. Just move this this things a bit so it doesn't line up.I would move furniture further from walls so it feels more natural. And I think sofa's bottom looks as if it was on the wall.
Great job! I like this aquarium on the wall
Hi! And thanks for the feedback! I tried to fix it a bit based on what you said tho I'm still a bit unfamiliar with fixing tangents so I'm not sure if this is the correct approach. Moving the furniture sure did help a lot too
