Hi, my name is Leon.
I'm a 21 year old self-taught artist based in South Africa, and I'm hoping to improve my art with Marc Brunet's ART School.
I also have an interest in 3D sculpting/animation so I'm planning to teach myself how to do that as well.
I've never been part of an art community before, so I'm nervous, but also very excited to start my ART School Journey.

I don't have much to show yet but I have this digital art piece that I made of Billie Eilish in January of this year. This was my first proper digital art piece I ever made.

I can't wait to share more with you all!

Nice job and that piece!
Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the forums  what a cool piece you have there, looking forward to see more

welcome to the forums!

Glad to see another fellow aspiring animator

Here are some construction lines and cylinder exercises I did today:

These are spot on, good shadow choice too

Cheers

I spent a lot of time on the first 2 measured figure drawings because I was being too perfectionistic. When I did the 3rd drawing I just went for it and finished it way faster and enjoyed the process more.

Great job! There’s nothing wrong with taking a long time. At this point I think the major objective is to simply control that stylus and be able to copy outlines and measure. It’s a plus that you draw the figure as you always learn some anatomy even if you aren’t sure what x or y is called - you just get familiar with it

At least that’s how I see these initial studies

It’s really clever when you think about it, memorize the overall proportions, learn to see the basic 3D forms in space that describe the body, learn to copy the outline and learn to spot the flow

Cheers!

Thank you for the reassurance @snakker!
I felt so frustrated while doing this because I kept making sure my lines where as similar as I could get to the reference photo. (I would take my line art and put it over the photo for comparison the whole time)
I'm glad that what I did actually helped me with the 3rd drawing, because I back tracked a lot less and just tried to make confident lines and I was surprised with the end result.

I did some gesture drawings.
I'll need to practice more daily to improve my confidence in placing my lines.
