Thank you so much for the kind words @gregorya and @alwaysneedsleep I was super happy with this leg, it was probably my favorite thing I have ever painted at this point. Anyways here is some of my practice through the week, Im trying to upgrade my gesture mannequine and it takes me quite a while to get the torso right. But it will get better in time. Anyways here is the work and also some studies! Feedback always welcome.

Anyways new gesture formula needs some work, but getting used to it for now, was fairly pleased with how spider Gwen is right now, will make some changes after feedback with Marc today. Feedback always welcome thanks for checking this out!

Damn man this looks amazing! I would say to blend in some of the background color into it? like making it a little more blueish, but idk lol it looks great, super realistic!

Regarding your last version of Gwen, I think the lack of contraste makes her look a bit flat. Since the legs are black, the shading is really dark and they don't lack volume. However, each flock of hair feels like a ribbon. I think this might be due to the lack of contraste. I think you could also use a "hair" brush to give a more natural feeling to they hair. They feel like ribbons of copper to me because of that. They would need more individual strokes. I hope this is helpful.

Amazing as per usual Lock! Gwen came out really well! The shading on her leg kneeling down looks slightly off, but I can't pinpoint why. Her left bicep seems a little too small. Her face is very well done though. Keep going!!!

I appreciate your support! @johann.audouin Thank you very much for the feedback I will keep that in mind! @Lukiesartventure thank you so much for the feedback and th ekind words! @holyjosh Thank you for the kind words, unfortunatelyt I can't take credit for the design as this is a valorant character from Riot games. This was a material study which I think is term 7? Marc had suggested I work some materials.

This is my progress for this week, I had so many problems with this one. My idea was to do a dark character with a really light background to make them pop out, use a low value range on the character for high contrast with background. But I think in the end it just ended up flatting out everything. I also had a lot of problems with the eye as I am not accustom to this type of eye. I also had a very difficult time converting from greyscale with the values being so dark. Anytways I tried to salvage it. I will continue to work on it some more. Any feedback is definitely welcome!

Hey Lock, it's a good start. With the value range, given that it's a white only background as long as you use a dark ish grey as the lightest colour it will read nicely.

From my understanding it's good to have a high value range in your paintings to avoid them being flat. I think Sinix talked about started with 2-3 value groups to make sure the main forms read. And then you can go into those groups and detail them as much as you feel like, just need to make sure that your darkest or lightest detail doesn't get to close to a different value group.

Ooh i like the dynamism in this pose

though i feel like the right leg (our right her left) would be better if it was more foreshortened. I think the upper part of the leg is fine but the lower part is what makes it look not quite..... right?

btw i like how the smoke kind of points towards her like some of it flows to the ground then goes to the sides, slightly upwards which meshes with the background and brings the focus back onto the character

Thanks so much! I appreciate the kind words! I made some adjustments on the figure and background. I did a bunch of work with cast shadows this week. Also I went back to do some 30 sec gesture drawings and I dislike doing them so much! I continue to work on them and try to get a fluid feel. I got better at them by the end of the week but had trouble making standing neutral poses feel interesting. Also did some box practice for torso and pelvis, some constructs and made some changes to Viper based on feedback. Feedback always welcome!
