Its been a minute since my last post! Been quite busy with volunteer work this month but ive continued working! I was comissioned for a 6 character piece which has been extremely challenging. This has been my practice since last time and me trying to study composition for this comission.

Feedback always welcome.

Some still life practice trying to use a painterly style. Following Ahmed Aldoori's course.

So I dont have a very good understanding of composition so I went with the shotgun method of just try a ton and see what comes out then refine from there. This was my shotgun approach.

This is where the composition is currently at, I had a really hard time with all of this so I studied and relied on compositions from other artists especially riot splash arts then tried to understand their formula and why they work. Most poses are from reference from photo or other artist to get a bunch down quickly but overall this process was very painful and time consuming lol! But... I do feel like I learned quite a bit on a skill I was very weak with.

This is where the piece in now, feeling better about it just need to lock in some of the changes client wanted.

Wow, that's a lot of work you have accomplished, and it's really good! The fruit paintings above all look fantastic. I hear that drawing fruits is a really good exercise for shading, what are your thoughts on it? I really aspire to be as good as you are when it comes to the painting/shading department so any insight would be greatly appreciated.

@Sthingz Sorry it took me so long to get back with you. I think shading basic forms like spheres and even organic blobs is a really great exercise that has helped me a lot!

I am still here, had just been spending a ton of time on this comission and its finally done! Doing a piece with 6 characters and trying to make it work was so incredibly difficult I have no words. I am satisfied with how the piece turned out but am definitely happy that it is complete! This is the big piece and some random work I have done since then.

These are my first attempts in painting straight to color, and also reducing the amount of time i spend on each piece to 8 hours. I struggle a lot with this but this was my attempts.

The painting with the 6 characters looks amazing! At a glance I'm seeing a golden spiral composition and that looks so awesome!

There appears to be a tangent there tho (not too sure what that thing is LOL)

Your lineart for the portraits look so clean!

Your paintings also look super professional!

Great job on the commission piece, I really like it! Very colorful and lively, the idea reads well enough, it also looks very dynamic. I did have a bit of a hard time understanding weather the main female has an elf ear or if it was a prop falling on her head as the color doesn't match the skin entirely but yeah, overall very cool, lots of character and it keeps my attention a lot just enjoying all the details

Excellent work. Is your bayleef picture in 3D? Painting with color is pretty challenging.
