Your shading studies are really paying dividends, and this shows especially in your portrait and figure drawing from 15 days ago. I have yet to tackle this subject, and I am not the least bit excited lol

@Sthingz Thank you very much, I was very muchg not interested in portraits at all when I started but now I think they are one of my favorite things.
@gregorya Thank you! I wanted to get faster at shading this area since I often times get confused on the structure.

I havn't been posting as much but I have continued to keep working. I have been working on draw a box and going through a few other tutorials. I finished the opening section of draw a box and figured id post my results as they are related! Also posting a few color studies I have done recently as well.

Some color studies and notes from league of legends art.

Here are a few portrait sketches I did in a sketchbook during the holidays from imagination at family events. I have never really worked in traditional media and some of these are pretty smudged. I guess that's why you don't draw on both sides of the page! Also quite a different experience drawing on paper, I found it quite challenging.

and I finished this piece here, I wasn't super happy with it but I feel like I could do better on the next one after doing some work on colors.

I love that piece! Nice job! I do think there's something odd about the tilt on her left humerus, from how the axilla looks I would place the elbow slightly more to our right, but I'm not sure

Awesome work! I haven't tackled color studies yet, but when I do, I will reference your notes (they are very detailed and organized). As for your last piece, I suggest you show her right hand a little bit as you do in your sketch or, alternatively, straighten that same arm because, to me, it looks as if her humerus is bending. Meanwhile, her left arm looks a bit overextended (either the shoulder is too large or there's some abnormal bending going on). Here's how I would fix it:




(Since I am just starting to learn about anatomy, I posed in front of the mirror and took a picture in order to arrive at the above recommendation Honestly, I think I might do this again since I found it so easy to pinpoint key anatomical landmarks considering I am pretty lean - shoutout to calisthenics and the gym lol). Bear in mind two things. One, when I mention the arm in yellow text, I am referring to its lower half (ulna + radius). And two, making these corrections would affect the position of the sword. Hopefully, my suggestion(s) come in handy.

I must congratulate you on those color studies, you took your time and carefully studied each piece and came out with some great notes. I will definitely have to do some similar studies as i am lacking in color. Those box studies also seem very helpful and look very clean. It's funny how certain people aren't as comfortable with different mediums, i started out with traditional and now do a mix of both digital and pencil/ink. I would give you critique on your piece but everyone already covered what i can see, overall i love the flow and energy here! keep up the great work.

@snakker thanks for the input! I worked the arm quite a bit and it was the most difficult piece for sure

Here is a piece I have been working on this week and the steps. Not quite finished with the background ye though. I have difficulty with the process so Marc suggested I make a video of it for review. I will go ahead and post the video here if anyone has any interest in the timelapse.

DANG that is awesome! I also loved the timelapse, I wasn't on audio so I don't know but that part where you are iterating a bunch of times on the pose drawings is totally up there for an art music video XD
Only thing I would note is that something with her right hand feels off to me

Those figure drawings are looking tight! Great work w/ the shading on your finished Morrigan piece. I wish I will someday get to that level of shading.
