Hello! As someone who migrated from tablet to pen display, I can say that the pen display experience is waaaay nicer. Line accuracy takes a big jump up, and (for me) it was a noticeable improvement ergonomically. (Headaches and back strain virtually stopped after I didn't have to keep a tablet on my lap.)
I originally used a Wacom tablet, an Intuos 5. After it bit the dust, I was hoping to buy a Cintique, but I just couldn't afford one. So...I'm afraid I can't offer much advice on whether to wait for the new Cintique or not.
I can recommend a less expensive alternative, though. After some research, I ended up purchasing an XP-Pen Artist 22 pen display. It's bulkier than a Cintique, but it works great! (And for roughly $600 on Amazon, well worth the price.) I've been using it for over a year on a Windows machine with no major issues. My only gripe is that the two styluses that come with the monitor are not as durable as they could be. They still work, but I had to tape the ends after a while to keep them together.
