Hey! I use the soft chalk from Marc's brushes, it builds up paint really well!

Another update into my portrait mania, in this one I made I put some colours down and then change it to black and white mode and paint using the values only, I've seen another artist do that so I gave it a go, it came out pretty cool, I did switch back and forth so as to have some consistency in the colours.

here is a side by side in value and then just the colour one

For details and anatomy I have no feedback, your skills in that field are really great, what you lack on greyscale is a few hard edges that would really push it to the next level (left clavicle, under the chin). I am not sold on the colored version, I think lips seem like painted with 2 different lipsticks and skin looks a bit dead, I recommend watching Marc tutorial about skin shading!
Your portrait are really good tho, keep going!

wanted to have a marker of my current painting skill for jan 2021, so I made this, have found that I haven't done nearly enough hair rendering, so thats something to work on this year, what do you think?

I'm going to try to be more involved with my next post, I'm competing in a group challenge to make a mythological creature, this is my sketch so far, I want to take my time to fill the scene, my current main problem is with set dressing, it is meant to be set in Roman times, what would you add here to make it look more like that period?

Update 2
Added the second creature
Change my original Idea of doing the pillars in 3 point perspective, it really doesnt work, and worked out the whole thing again in a far cleaner 2 point perspective, a lot of hours gone into this bit

Was thinking of adding some clothing or jewelery to the monsters to make it look more like cursed people, any ideas or sugestions?

The pillars indeed are a lot better now. Congrats!

I can definitely see some necklaces, earrings, and some other jewelry hanging around them. Maybe some arm-bands Now sure about actual clothing, tho (seems to me it would more get in the way of their movement and would be the first things to be dropped after a transformation).

What do you think?

added the details on the court
balanced all the lineweights
made the clean linework for the creatures
made the linework for the mountain and building in the background

to be honest this is the first time I have tried spending as much time as possible paying attention to my line weight, since I have about 3 weeks to finish this piece, that idea that you're spending a long time doing something really help

Making something totally unique and "new" is a loooot more complicated and challenging, that's why I'm so wowed by your drawing and can't wait to see the finished version
