A little play with the photoshop tools assignments.

After making the swords (which took many pen shapes piled on top of each other) I had a pretty good grasp on the tool, so I hit the other two fast.

Ears ears ears ears ears ...

Notes are written on the document. The prevalent thing on my mind currently is how to engage my brain to absorb the things I am seeing. How conscious a practice does that need to be? I could copy them more precisely by measuring them, but would that make me a good artist?

An on going question I feel.

I think that by thinking about observation that will trigger it to happen as you are practicing. As long as you practice and think about spatial relationships, and other observational skills I think it will continue to improve. Nice work on all of these!

Hoping so mate, thanks for the feedback

Loving these head sketches!

But yeah, that's a tough question and I wonder the same. I've heard that perfect practice makes one's skills better (a better version of "practice makes perfect). But like, what IS perfect practice??

Also, the top right photo looks like Ethan Becker???

Cigarette and bushy beard guy? :joy:

I know what you mean, what the heck is 'perfect' practice? The only way I can reason it around in my mind is; to learn masterful techniques and pay attention to the subtleties as you consciously practice.

Much love to you for the encouragement Lindsey, hope you are well.

Greetings lovely fellow students. Been a while since I updated my art journey ... family commitments were intense this summer holiday season and that nervous system became mucho over stimulated. However, progress has been made (of course) and I'm ready for some show and tell.

This is where I was before I needed to leave the sacred Wacom and travel to see family. I must say looking back on it, I am pleased with my progress.

Then while I was away I managed some studies on Procreate.

Finally some stylized studies first with construction lines and then without. (Top Right face is practicing from imagination.)

As always much love to you all and I hope your journey is as fruitful and blessed as possible. MWAH!

Still been pluggin away at those faces, and enjoying the progress - this week is my Dune heads.

By the time i got the the last two i was turning the dial the logical part of my brain down a little and increasing the flow level. Over thinking can kill creativity.

Feedback is as always greatly appreciated.

Want to keep improving.

Mucho love. :kissing_heart:

Next week i'll be focusing on the Dune ladies!

ooh hot daem these r so good :O! keep up the good work  can't wait to see more

thanks Suki, I'll post some more this week! Much love to you!

okay for now, this lovely lady ...

I'm starting to get a hankering for colour and rendering. I cant stop myself.
I'm starting to think i should move on but i'm having too much fun studying portraits!!!!

Any feedback is welcome haven't studied rendering and painting yet. xxx

The flowing hair looks awesome! And I like how you shaded the skin ✨

thanks for the kind words prinzmoana, they are the fuel that keeps me swishing that colour!

I have had no input with adding colour so i'm feeling my way around after Marc's second anatomy tutorial. Having a lot of fun though!

Much love friendly cyberhood artist-people! :yum:

Keep up the good work hojo! I don't have much to add about color as I mostly do greyscale, but one thing you might find helpful for picking values is setting up a hotkey to change image to greyscale to get aquick peek at your values. I find it really helpful! Keep up the great progress!

I didn't even know there is sth like this xD Sounds really helpful 🤔😄

@Lockenheim's advice is good :smiley:

what i personally like to do is add a layer of just black on top of everything and then set it to Color and turn it off and on when i wanna see grayscale or not

kinda like this:

I think your values are lookin pretty good though you may want to smooth things out just a tad bit like around the nose for instance - and also overall maybe use a soft brush on a large size - opacity based on pen pressure and darken the lower edges, left side and lighten up the top a little more.

Much love for this @mitsuki-youko and @Lockenheim
