Aight so im kinda ready to do a silly, fun, cute no strings attached animation! (usually when i animate my characters, as a perfectionst, i always have to make them cool and perfect but this cat is so cute and silly that none of that matters XD) its been like 7 years since ive made something thats just pure fun XD

This is inspired by a loading screen my colleague made for a internal call tracking system we use (which i lovingly dub the CTS Circle Cat XD)

^ Cts Circle cat shows up every april fools XD i wish they'd just make it the official loading thing for everyday use XD

In any case i have a rough idea of what imma animate which is also really good base shape practice as well

can't wait to work on this more!

really nice designs and animation! - i am the same way whenever i design something but it's always an interesting question to ask when designing to help make sense of designs

As I start to plan out the whole scene, I'm wondering whether or not i'll end up animating the whole thing since it isnt rly related to my proj but just practice.. but practice is good.. so theoretically i should... If i get lazy i'll probs make it a comic instead of an animation XD but maybe... i should do both for the EXTRA practice!

But here's what I have so far - a premise, some thumbnails, concepts, etc.

So I was like ok so swirly cat is gonna be swirling and spinning... but why? then I was like maybe he's chasing after something... or dodging something.. then i came up with the idea that he approached a strange object on the ground, it turned out to be a cyclops star. cyclops star woke up, saw huge cat and freaked out and shot a cylinder from his eye at the cat hitting the cat in the face. cat gets mad and chases after the cyclops star. the cyclops star tries to run away, shooting a few cylinders here and there.. and for the extra mech practice, MAYBE the cylinders transform into something... idk..

I wanted a whimsical bg and also i didnt wanna spend too much time on the bg so my color pallete for the bg is pastel-ey from pink to purple to blue to turquoise. so at the bottom, where they started it is pink but as it gets higher and higher, it'll start to change colors.. oh whoops, forgot my establishing shot showing the place from top down and the changes in color to make it make more sense when the bg starts changing colors lolol

that second to last frame on that second page is supposed to be the star doing a backflip and then shooting a cylinder z axis. looks like this:

also yes i made up the name cyclops star on the spot cus i was typing and was like star with one eye is too long and may raise questions as to why it only has one eye not two XD (cuz cyclops star)

Not done with the scene yet.. still some more swirly twirlys to go.

Eventually swirly cat will catch cyclops star but because he had so much fun, he's not mad anymore and just licks cyclops star in the face.

This looks like a lot of fun! Setting up the scene, sketching out the sequence. It all looks really good too.

When I saw the cyclop star the first thing that came to mind was "is that a little starro?", but this is way cuter, especially with how expressive it seems despite being only one eye and having few "limbs" xD

Oh, they float like a flying jellyfish with fast blades machine guns, and blades? Interesting. I like to see how that gets developed.
I like the hoverboard sword transformation animation.
I like the swirly circle cat idea. It reminds me of Cake the cat from Adventure Time.
The thumbnails look good and the concept looks interesting.

LMAO i had to look up what starro was and lolol i can see why you'd think that XD

Not much art to show for atm but finally getting back into it after not really drawing much for like 3 months due to working a coding thing - I'm pleased to say that I'm done with that coding thing and have a good grasp of the coding languague so ill probs try to alternate days where i code and days where i draw instead of doing 99% coding.

Generally when i learn something new i usually have to spend a lot of time getting it off the ground and once it is up and flying i can work partially on that and then spend some time on the other stuff i wanna do. I've finally hit that point where i can alternate btwn stuff

To get back into it, I really wanted to color cus thats the part thats the most fun for me. drew one of my side characters, Natalie, who is a harpy.

at first i envisioned her as orange then i was like eh most harpies are orange, thats kinda a meh idea so i made her blue lol. There are a lot of different types of harpies just like there are many types of birds but i still need to develop them.

as you can see i spent little to no effort on the body XD just wanted to practice roughly shading the face - it was pretty fun XD

The hair shape design looks really nice! And I totally understand what you mean when you have to focus all your efforts on something to get a to a comfortable level and then integrate other things! Congrats!
