Hello. Diving in.
I'm trying to learn exactly a year now. Had some big problems with an eye strain in my digital journey so it wasn't much a progressive year... Had few courses in traditional art before get in digital and after that a lot of breaks through the year until July, when I started this course and got an acceptable monitor. Still figuring how long a person with a sensitive eyes can draw digitally. If someone here with same problems can comment, would be glad to hear their stories.
Now, I'll present some of my start points, progress and this course assignments.
The first time I did something without a reference. On the paper. August 2022.

Somewhere in march without a reference.

July with ref.

Then I started the course.
5 char. assignment in order of creation

In the middle of that it took me 2 weeks to do this one... Ate some nerves from me.

So, then I wanted to do "Study (copy) 3 environment drawings" but stuck in understanding those lines and points. Are those refs to hard for me or something? My most questions on 1st and 4th pic.

Welcome! Lots of good work there!
For eyes take breaks, look through window for a while to rest them. I would also suggest changing canvas color from white to grey. Staring at pure white can be pain.

great studies finding vanishing points through references. Keep up the good dicipline every day. Cheers!

Thank you. I thought at first I did everything wrong but now it looks better from my view) Need to master this.

heyo welcome to the forums!

have you tried using glasses that block blue light?

yes. useless. Right now I managed to buy the most expensive eye care monitor. Seems works. But I would like to find usable ipad... Had to get rid of a 22 year model(

I finally finishing Term 1 with all assignments.
5 new characters.

This one looked unreal to redraw. Took me 3h in total.

Perspective 3x2. 1,2 and I think got 3 point here.

I so hate these windows. I don't have enough stamina for them.

These two were fan. Definitely need to pick that you like and as a result it takes twice more time for one drawing...

It would be much easier and productive to have few mandatory references in assignments so you don't waste time on pinterest and draw proper stuff for the lesson.

This is a lot of good work!

Sorry to hear about the eye strain, as someone who works in IT, I also need to constantly take breaks, use eye refreshers and in general take care of myself. Can't say they ever hurt, but I do in ocasions get blurry eyesight out of having tired eyes.

It's incredibly annoying when it happens, not even eye refreshers will help at that point and I simply need to take a break until I feel well again. It's not frequent enough to be worriesome though.

Others already gave good tips, so the only thing I can add is, go to see an oculist if you haven't already. They can make tests and tailor a treatment specifically for your situation. Answer all your questions, and give you proper advice specifically for you for how long to use monitors for, if you might need specific glass types to help out, or something similar.

Bests of luck! you're doing good work here!
