Mousie - ART School Journey

Hi there!

I'm Mousie and I've been an artist for quite a long while. The truth is, though, that while I've always loved it, I was discouraged from pursuing it as it was considered an 'unacceptable' career choice. I longed to be an animator or concept artist as a young teen but did not go to art school as I really wanted to. Fast forward thirty years and here I am, a wife and mother of two full grown children ready to take the step I always wanted to make before.

I hope to learn from the course so I can finally chase the art career I've wanted to have and break into the industry. I haven't really got a focus and having zero formal training at all, I am all but starting from the bottom to work my way up.

I'm excited to be here and take the plunge into learning and studying so much more seriously. I hope this is the start of amazing things to come!

Welcome to the forums Mousie! Never had kids myself (nor did I want to), but I can relate.
Your characters remind me a lot of the TMNT. They're really well done! Seems you already have a strong fundation. Looking forward to seeing your journey!

Thank you all so much! I've been enjoying the lessons a lot so far. Gesture studies are a little hectic but I'm adjusting, little by little.

Also, yes! TMNT is one of my very biggest and oldest influences. I actually taught myself how to draw by copying panels freehand out of the Archie TMNT comics or off the paused TV back in the 80s haha! So you can see them in my OCs and stories a lot. ♥

Aw yea I loved those comics back in the day! I remember I used to see advertisments for them within the Archie comics all the time (1 year for X, 10 issues for X, etc). Sadly I wasn't able to get them (I'm not in the US), but the art was great.

I remember watching the 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That was one of the first times I watched the series. FOr comics, I read the Batman TMNT crossover.
