Oh man where to start with what influences me.. I freakin' love Warhammer, Zelda, Metroid, DnD, Witcher, Starcraft, H.R Geiger, Lovecraft, and Mass Effect. Basically anything sci-fi or fantasy that has real creative teeth to it, y'know? The creatures scared the BAHZEESUS outta me as a kid, but I loved every second of it. I just mimic what I like, honestly

Yay, some lovely creatures, always appreciated! I love your concepts and ideas, very nightmare fuel. One thing: Don't be afraid of clean edges. Consider cleaning up your lines, because as of now everything looks pretty "muddy". I know you are drawing organic things, but stuff like scales or just in general materials don't read well, which takes away from your lovely concept, because I get what you are going for, but with some nice texture work this would read so much better. I would recommend you doing some texture studies of animals, sea animals in particular as you seem to like to go into the depths with your characters. Lovely works and keep going, I enjoy them a lot!

Thank you for your recommendation! I completely agree, my sketches tend to be a mishmash of different brush strokes that loses interest. I tend to spend a lot of time trying to texture something when I'm going through my finishing process, TOO much time ahaha.

I've actually been fiddling around with texture brushes and making my own for certain drawings. I'll post up some of those explorations soon!

Quick in-progress of my mermay illustration! I've been goofing off with creating my own texture brushes for fish scales and bone/organic material.

I took a look at Adam Duff's tutorial on how to get less aggresive gradients on flesh. Check it out! eally helped me when I was finished grayscaling out the lady!

I've been wanting to step up my texture game a bit, so I bought Trent Kaniuga's tutorials on his Gumroad, really interesting stuff! I'm definitely going to be using some of his techniques for my illustrations.

Dave Greco was doing a challenge on his Discord this month and I decided to throw my hat into the ring! The challenge was creating something out of a palette given (picture 2) and have it fit the theme of Cherry Blossums.
