Here come my first shot at proportion measurement ! Altho its hard i'm proud with the results, its faaaar from perfect and i got a lot of problems on anatomy ( which i havent studied yet ) but i'm really happy to have kinda succeeded to put all the right thing at the almost right place !
Here is with a low opacity layer !
My second attempt to draw proportion measurement !
I start to struggle a bit, even if this is quite in proportion and in pose, i've drawn other model with much more movement and it end up a lot of time with HUGE misplacement of the joints, i have to take a looot of time and measuring to do it and it sadden me a bit .
Like this one :
I had to redraw multiple times the joints ( i used layer to create a correct green body to show my mistakes ) .
I've got a hard time to measure and use proportion by the eye, even using the pen to count the head or measure i still struggle.
Am i doing something wrong or should i train even more again and again ?
I have a lot of hard time to pintpoint like the pelvis position or the center of the body, i can but i take me an ungodly amount of time ...
I wish i had a good answer/tip to give regarding how to get the limb sizes correct, or how to measure correctly each try, but sadly i don't cause i'm in your same position, I struggle with exactly what you're struggling with and i'm on my 7th try, and so far i've had my closest attempt yet, so from what i've experienced it's all down to trial and error, and your eyes slowly being able to spot what's wrong/right.
The most important thing is not giving up, your tries so far are REALLY solid, and honestly look way better than what i've got after 7 attempts!. Keep grinding, you'll get there
It ease me a bit to know that i'm not the only one to struggle on this, i felt like garbage for like hours ahah, but it sadden me too that you devaluate your work like that , i'm sure what you did is really cool and i'm pretty sure with your good attitude and spirit that you will make it really far !! 7th attempt is a lot of work and i'm impressed that you did so many !!
You're right only experience will make us out off that spot and with much better knowledge and aptitudes !
I will never give up, i cant ! Thanks for saying my try are solid that cheers me up ! Thanks a lot, keep grinding too brother !
Sixth attempt ! I'm really proud of this one !! I tried myself for the first time of my life to draw hair from my personnal feeling and it look great i think !
I did this one much more quickly than the previous one ! I start to get a little bit better !
I found that my error was misplaced proportions because i used bad spot mark, like here is used the bottom left corner for my starting point and used the head measurement for everything !
I was applying all of marc brunet advice but well this time !
( I still struggle tho, but i f it was before 99/100 i'm now at 45/100 !! )
Seventh attempt ! Hard work pays off, i put the joints with more easyness and much quicker, i get the shapes of the body and i analyze it much better ! Tho i have MUCH to learn i'm happy to progress step by step !
I start to taking habits in observing, make link between body part and use them as measurement and proportions ! I try to correct my mistakes by doing it again and again !
And i've take some pleasure trying shading for fun ! ( i KNOW i know i dont know how light work but i wanted to give it a shot ! ) and a little bit of perspective with the cube ( who's objectivly ABJECT in term of perspective, but i will have to work on that on the next lesson in term 1 )
Thanks a lot ! I redraw things a lot and sometimes like the last drawing, when the joint are waaaay far one from another i struggle a bit ! But i try to put more heart at work and your answer means a lot to me ! I hope you're working hard too and i'm sure improving !!
Thanks a lot, shading is for me really hard but ahah again thanks and have a good day !
Here are my latest attempt to gesture drawing ! I tried this time to focus MORE on the lines of action and movement, i exagerrated the overall lines to make them more gestuous ! Tho its less proportionned its more lively and i like that ! I cant wait to continue and learn more and do my best !
