Piece for friend need C&C

this is just a WIP but would really appreciate any C&C you have to help this along. trying to keep a likeness with the persons face in the top right but not sure if it's to clear and the design of the armour and stuff is Gut's from Berserk

The eyebrow shape, the mouth shape and color, as well as the cheek bone shape do not match the photo. The eyebrow shape in the photo is much more defined and pointed, her cheek bones sit higher than how you have them, and her mouth doesn't turn upwards at the corner like how you have it. In fact, it's the opposite where her upper lip is more convex and her bottom lip has less of a curve than how you have it. Also the skin tones do not match. I realize that you might have been trying to do some color correcting due to the different light sources in the photo and the painting but even in the photo you can tell that she still has some yellow and green tones in her skin so try to put those in there.

I would also suggest that you have a defined light source and work on defining your edges a little better. I hope this helps!

That's such a cool and thoughtful present!!

I did a paintover:

1. I agree with all @heartingjuice said. I hope this makes things a bit clearer about the face.
2. I feel like her body is relatively too large.
3. I think you should show her ear and nice jawline.
4. Her hair looks darker to me in the picture, actually the whole piece could use a darker tone (try playing around with Level sliders). Try to up the contrast.
5. You need more shadows, for example on the scarf and below her harness.
6. More edge definition and sharpness would look nice.

Nice piece. The others have given you some good crit on the anatomy. I wanted to add something about the pose. Currently the sword is floating behind her and would slip off the back of the shoulder. A sword with any weight would be hard to hold like that. Consider moving it so it's balancing on the inside of her shoulder. Think about how you would hold the weight in real life.

Your friend has very rounded cheeks and chin. In your image the side of her face is very flat in comparison. See how her profile bulges out under her eye, dips back in towards her mouth and goes out again for the chin.
You can just place the photo over your painting, turn down the opacity and trace directly around it.
