I want to share a series of portrait studies I've been doing of John Singer Sargent. I started doing them last year and have since done a few. My idea was to directly copy his painted style using only digital media. The brushes I used are Marc's, which can be found here:

I started with the first one, and ended up to the last one. Along the process of doing these I discovered how he uses edge in such a manner as to barely hint at the forms in the out of focus parts, and really dials in his details on the eyes and face. He at the time was working off live models, and did not use gray scale. I chose the grey scale as it is easier to control as opposed to using straight color, which can become confusing. Coloring it is easy later.
Here are some I did based of photographs, taking care to recreate exactly on this first one.
Then later I tried to put my own style to the paintings instead of just copying them exactly.
And finally here is a colored version based on no photo, just my imagination in my own style.
