A couple of friends of mine are kind enough to let me paint the book covers for the series they are writing, this will be the cover for the second book in the series "Insurrection". My brief was just "a huge city block being hit by a planetary assault laser" so I got to do my own thing.
I usually just paint all my pictures in Clip Studio with my tablet, and use photos purely to add texture, but this ended up being a composite of lots of greyscale pictures first, with colours, ships, explosions etc painted on top. Regardless I enjoyed the process and I learnt quite a lot, which as an amateur hobby artist is always good!
