Contrasted pieces are the best, I'm glad you give a try to it ! They are also a great challenge because the forces you to percieve volume a little bit differently.
Paint over time!
Here what could be done in order to improve your art work:
To give more depth to your character use the shadow caused by the ray of light at your
advantage. You character is in volume which mean, even if she’s standing
against the wall the shadow will never be straight. It will rather follow the
body’s part volume resulting into some curves.
I added some shadow under her breast and neck considering the light come from the upper
right. It is always interesting to make the lighting coming from another
direction especially in contracted pieces like this one.
I made the red rune shine a little bit more … it could be interesting if the shade would
be affected by this red. This would give an interesting atmosphere and it might
help to make the character's silouhette more obvious in the shadow.
Also make the skin warmer, there’s blood underneath! This will make the shadows more
red/orange.
I thought adding some leaf on the left would make the composition more balanced.
Hope it will help!
