Hi everyone! My name is Shayola, I'm an artist from Hungary. I'm not a beginner, because I was drawing my entire life and took some short art courses over the years. However I feel like I lack a lot of the basics (for example anatomy, shading etc.) and I want to improve a lot to become a concept artist! So I bought Marc's Art School and I'm ready to go into serious art practise mode C:
I'm dropping a few of my recent finished works here, so we can see where we start and how much can I improve >:3

Welcome to the forums! these are some great paintings and I think you already have a good understanding of shading so hope to see you improve as you do more of the course.

Wow! Your "before" work looks really nice already ^_^
It'll be great seeing how much you improve from here. You'll definitely get the serious practice you're after, and I'm sure you'll reach your goals. Can't wait to see more from you!

So I watched the Nude Figure Drawing lesson and started working on the assignmens for that
Did a bunch of cylinders:

Drew over these photos:

I think I don't understand it enough yet, so I'm going to make more of these ↑

Also tried to do gesture drawings, but I only did them on paper so far. I don't know if I am alone with this, but it feels like it needs less effort than digital??
(It's a mix of 30 sec and 1 minute gesture drawings.)

great practice, and your probably right since you try to replicate the feeling of drawing on paper with digital but it's also another tool or medium that artists can use. That's why paper still feels better to most people because that's what they are used to or started out with before doing anything digitally and adjusting to it.

Thank you! Yeah, I think you're right! And also for me it feels easier to simply open my sketchbook than turn on PC, open Photoshop, get my tablet ready, get a canvas..

That's understandable, I started with digital and only dabbled in traditional so I personally like digital tools more

I wanted to finish more assignments by now, but my PC is killing my nerves so ehh... xD

I drew this proportions thing while watching the video. I guess it's alright ¯_(ツ)_/¯

And I did a ton of gesture drawings traditionally:

I tried to do some digitally as well, but my PC crashed and my first PSD file got corrupted, so I lost like 30 gesture drawings :') pain
Anyway I did some more today:

Ooh, you're putting in so much work, very impressive! Your gestures are looking great in both traditional and digital.
I love the knife design too, it looks really good when it's small. Loving the background on it, it makes me want to play Cities Skylines again, hehe.

After some break I'm back again! Finally finished all the assignments for Term 1 Nude Figure Drawing. Here are some gesture drawings (30 sec, 1 min, and 3 min in the end) :

I drew over a few more reference photos to get the hang of it:

I was kinda satisfied with it so I moved on to draw these skeletons based on reference photos:

And then I did the measured pose drawing:

The guy was already buff, but I accidentally made him even more buffed

I can finally move on to Perspective

Meanwhile I'm learning perspective I started working on a personal project - a winter ball outfit for my character. I'm having hard time choosing just one, so I would love to hear your opinions / which ones you like
(She is a druid btw, the same character as the one on the top of the forum )

Wow your work is fantastic, and I love your rendering style! I don't think I'm at a level where I can give any proper feedback but I can say I can't wait to see how you improve more.

As for your ball gown designs, my personal favourite is #4. I feel like the colour scheme is well balanced and there's a nice level of detail for each aspect of the design. They are all quite nice designs though.
