Hello my name is Sign-goroku ! I've been drawing for the past few years albeit very inconsistently- I've tried out the Art school program but suddenly stopped due to having alot of personal and health issues pilling up, but as these are solved now I feel confident enough to give it a try from the beginning once more !
And thus on a Monday during the very first day of April 2024 my journey into Art School begin- Nice to meet all of you !

Hello ! And thanks for the warm welcome !

I managed to complete the 1st week of term 1 well here are the results for the pen controls :

this is day 1 !

And this is day 7 ! I still realize I gotta practice my pen control- specially on circles, where I still struggle to keep the form round...

And this is the image adjustment exercise results ! I still haven't got to practice lots with photo editing but will try noneless !

I'll attend to some personal art this weekend as I was busy moving into a new place last week

Week 2 !
I'll start with the dailies from either D1/D7 to D8/D14 !

As for the photoshop assignments

as for the Selection/liquify/heal assignment here's the result !

first time applying healing brush in photoshop- it is quite powerful but weird to use...

As for the liquify exercise I used the alien to take the proportions of a stock female head

Had alot of fun doing this week's assignments and kinda am impatient to start next one's tomorrow !

3rd week into the Art School Term 1 !
starting wiiiiith- the daily 10 exercises + the daily 30 seconds gesture drawing :
Day 1 -

then its the turn of the cylinders and skeletons over image daily drawings:

(I did went back on going with lines for awhile)
and the last assignment for that week waaaas- drawing(copy) 5 characters so here they are :

from order : Eruruu (Utawarerumono), kayamori ruka (Heaven burns red), Aigis (Persona 3), Amber (Genshin Impact) and Shinji ( Neon Genesis Evangelion) day 1-3 stuck with drawing character by just looking at them then sketching and sketching- but something always felt off, so by day 4 I remembered I had the copy tools that Marc told us last week, about using the pen to mesure the size of the line and drawing boxes- so I used that by day 4 and 5.
I just eyed week 4 content and can't wait to learn more on how to use perspective !

4th week into it ! Halfway through the term !
and thus delivering my (weekly) daily progress onto it !

And thus tackling new subjects ! The male-female proportion with the d1 rewatching the video alongside and d7 is pretty much blind based on how much I remember it

And then the hardest one to learn for me yet ! Perspective--- so as the assignment said I used some random locations (chose within America on that one) on google street view on found converging lines to find vanishing points to be able to determine the horizon line

and then studied 1point perspective :

(I still feel that I'm having trouble with that though)

And thus sums up what I did last week, hopefully I'll understand more on 1pp and 2pp during this week (cube stacking) and manage to figure out more on how it works as these are very crucial steps...

Perspective can be tough!

That last one seems kind of off. The view has the horizon line in the middle, but somehow we can so the top of the cube which is clearly very above us. The lower part seems ok, though the left doesn't seem to match the vanishing point on the left.

Ah indeed ! Thank you for spotting this ! I was wondering why this one was very off ! I had in mind to show all the faces of a rectangle but failed as seen on the image- the good thing is that I did learn enough and by next day I think I did manage to do something that is somewhat perspective correct with a small assemble of cubes and a steep triangular shape !

I think you might need to place your vanishing points a bit further having them too close makes your shapes all wonky and deformed . otherwise your other 2 perspective drawings look pretty good.

then there was the nude assignment 4 and lineart study- I combined them both- by first drawing based on the image source without any measure tools 5 skeletons :

and then afterward I'd work with the same method I learned during the last days on week 3 but with more experimentation with brushes this time around as well :

(Kilo - NIKKE, Ash- PSO2, Alto - Macross F, Ren Amamiya - Persona 5, Mega Man from... Mega Man...Or Rockman !)
was pretty happy that I could draw them with all of their details intact- I actually felt like I progressed as I managed to shave time while increasing quality compared to Week 3 !
I feel like I also understand more about how to utilize perspective as well thanks to daceronine and uggievang hopefully I'll be able to get the hang of 1pp and 2pp with perspective assignment 3 !

Publishing week 6 progress with a bit of delay (bad connection + busy week combo)
There were only 4 exercises but these were pretty harder compared to the previous ones imo :
first is the daily primitive drawing (volume drawing :

then the gesture drawing (5 minutes which strangely my hand felt less tired than with the 2 minutes per gestures) :

then there was the environment study (first one was from arttsam, the rest was from 辻匠 which was realistically painted) :

Then came the perspective assignment 3 which I wasn't super enthusiastic but ended up having a lot of fun :

and that's it for week 6, will work on personal stuff this week (and still maintain volume training as well) and try to share that next week as well- but I'll probably rest too or else I'll burnout quickly at this pace lol... Next week will be last one on term 1 !

Nice man, I think you can already start to see some improvement if you compare these latest exercices to some of your first ones.

Heyo heyooo- time I give my report on what happened on these past 2 weeks ! So I'll regroup both weeks of progress here !
Week 7 :
I took my time to rest a bit (was realizing that practicing 7/7d might not have been a bright idea of mine as it took a toll from that week) so didn't do much but managed to come up with this (based on a character I main on WoW) :
was quite satisfied with how it managed to look specially since I didnt do much metal materials before.

Week 8 :
The final week of Term 1 ! starting with Gesture drawings 2min part 2 !
(I switched from Gesture App to GestureDrawing! since I had some software issues with it, used the psd files included which is pretty darn convenient though)

*took the weekend to rest to see if it would help for next term that I took 2 days of break in the week lol

comparison from week 6 well- it took me much less time to trace these environments (they're also all urban too which changed a bit)

Speaking of urban ! Here's the assignment 4 for Week 8 !

it looks super simple but I kinda like it ! Tis a cross road between 3 gigantic buildings !

Only one last thing to do to complete it would be to review the progress I did--
Well I'm starting to get the hang of Photoshop UIs and toolset- same with the brushes provided by Marc which some feels really nice to use ! I finally understand 1 point and 2 point perspective and the only thing that was kind of a miss was my own pacing as I can't handle doing things daily during all 7 days in a week- atleast not without taking a break at some point- so will probably do the daily stuff in the span of 5 days out of 7 rather than all 7 to avoid getting exhausted in the long run while still maintaining a good rhythm but finishing this term got me hyped up for the 2nd one now-- Can't wait to try it out ! But for now taking a week or 2 between terms to spend some time doodling personal stuff～★ Yay !
