Oh man, I love the style that you're going for, it's very nice (and now Im going to have to search who Ashley wood is, because her art look amazing).
One question i'd like to ask is, how do you get that kind of glow and that sharp look on the first couple of paintings? It looks neat, and yet I have no idea how you'd do it. Anyway, keep up the good work .

a final sharpen filter when everything's done.

for the glow, it's a color dodge layer. but you have to be very subtle.

I really like the way you paint colors and do brush strokes, such a nice flow, awesome work

Oh now that's interesting. Adding those holes/texture to the outside hair and such as a finish, rather than a base... I'd have assumed the brush was textured to begin with, and the rest was filled in after.

Then again, I don't even think to do lineart on paper and scan it in. What benefit do you get out of that? Portability of working on a rough draft anywhere before moving to digital?

To quote a tutorial from Shaddy Safadi, artists do a lot of extra steps to make the piece appear to be made easier or faster.

As for drawing on paper, I only use a tablet so my lines and the overall feel of my drawings on paper are still quite different from what I can do digitally.
