Being a bit slow with my work mostly because I'm getting distracted and also putting half of the remaining half of my free time towards making projects I don't like working on just to have a portfolio. Its really demotivating and makes me not want to do anything at all but just lay in bed all day,
Regardless, the butt muscles ( + bonus!)
One thing I really like about Proko's assignments is that they're incredibly easy and simple to do. So, I decided to spice things up and make it more interesting for me.
Adding reptilian tails to the human body for as practice for my draconid race project.
It took some time to find any good resources on Reptilian Caudal vertebrae (ie lizard tail bones) and I managed to find some things but I was very disappointed. There is a distinct lack of open-access resources and especially pictures to use as reference. Even harder was the muscles and I'm still confused whether or not the tail muscles form a concertina-pattern between each vertebrae or are just long tubes running along the tail from the torso.
From what I've seen other artists do they just kinda plop the tail on the back and call it a day. A couple more pay a bit more attention to the anatomy and actually try to make it an extension of the spine, but there's no detail given to the muscles, so it still kinda looks like a tail tacked on but in a more believable way. It might just fall to me to make a more comprehensive resource on humanoid tails.
On a side note, drawing scales is really damn hard! Even with a reference. I'll post my attempts at copying a viper's head that I did in my sketchbook sometime later down the line.
After the butt, its the inner legs. And I'll switch my schedule a bit to just complete the main bits of the self-taught curriculum at my own pace instead of giving myself 4 weeks as is recommended.
