Hi there! Some original text there, no lorem ipsum used. +1 for the suspense!

Now create awesome art ^-^

And welcome to Cubebrush

@kigerneko & @fathomcube : On it! :smile:

Here's a couple of screenies from my current wip. I've tinkered with 3d for a bit and over the last year, I've honed in on characters. Still a world of "all the things!" to learn, lol, but happy with my progress so far.

With this work, I love that I've grasped enough of the process to make something, from design to importing to an engine (Unity). There's been lots of bumps: not enough xp yet to translate some design elements to the model well, so rigging was way more complicated than I anticipated. And noob mistakes: lost all my weights at some point and saved over it - ugh! I also, in wanting to avoid looking too mirrored, did not stack any shells. I'll be far more selective next time.

What I hate is my making the mistake of painting each model in separate files - now they don't match! I'm fixing it, but it's driving me up the wall until that's done. Also... I think the models are boring. I've only dealt with color value so far so maybe that'll change once I bring in hue transitions. But yeah, I'm not jazzed about the flatness.

Looks really good! the silhouette and the overall shapes com together well, especially for a game. The only complaint is something you've already said, and that's the brown, kind of boring palette. Then again, you can always change that up next time.
Overall, in my opinion, I think it'd be ready to be used in a game- great work!

Thank you, @Aceclarkes! I'll be plugging away at them over the next couple of days. The next post will be the final and a little post-mortem

those models looks sick as @#*! awesome design ^-^

heh, turns out I'm terrible at blogging.... Life, in general, is a bit busy too atm. I've been trying to keep at things though!

Was really dissatisfied with that warrior so I reworked the model, starting with the female version. I'm very satisfied with the update, but...I'm still going to complain about something I did or didn't do - maybe more bone should have been included? It looked good on paper, but those little pieces feel so so lonely, lol. What do y'all think?

i'm including the original sketches too

Used this rework as an opportunity to start really learning Zbrush, and the high to low poly style, as well. I've sculpted before - mostly traditional, and then some playing around in mudbox. I came to this software doing little doodles, which didn't work out for me so well. I found that I needed an actual project to truly commit to learning the style and process well.

The whole process is very different than I've been used to. It's been a sometimes frustrating, but a hella fun xp so far! The sculpting videos from the store here also helped a ton in really jumping into it - HUGE thank you for producing them, Marc/Cubebrush and Michael P .

here's a final of game res. Still learning so I can do a better retopo but, again, I am really happy with this.

As I've got the time, I'm continuing to learn. The warrior is part of a set of 5 toons that I designed and wanted to hand paint. The next up was the caster dps so I'm working on that now. Pardon the mess, I'm still picking colors

A few of the things I drew didnt feel as though they were translating well, so there are some differences. There's probably another couple weeks before this one is finished. Then on to the melee dps!

Nearly finished with the newest sculpt, just have to add surface details. She's done enough though that I went ahead and posted it.

Still have to pick final colors, so today I'm working on that. Trims/hardware too because I'm losing contrast in places. Also, since I haven't done a decently polished painting in a while, I'm taking the opportunity with this sketch.

My choices are down to these four!

wish me luck, lol
