@cyberdisc YEAH I'm excited to learn improvements and where I need to change my approach; being self taught can only get one so far, in my case.
@Holland I'm so glad! That was the feeling I was going for. I always love the feelings of aquariums; the wall of jellyfish, the shark tunnel, ugh it's my favorite thing... With the ambiance that the glow of the light coming through the water down to you, it's just so soothing. I've always wanted to live in that feeling.
Excellent job on the project 3 if constructive criticism is ok, one thing I would adjust is the levels on the house itself might be a little high. Depending on how you have it set up in your program I would either adjust the curves on the house layer to be a little darker (if curves ain't a thing in that program you can fake it by creating a new layer over it and just paint a black or dark blue with opacity really low) just to cut back a little on those highlights. it's a lovely piece
I really like the color choice and the layout of everything
@Ardeey Well I did quite a bit. I had two different layers for the jellyfish, one of a lower, darker blending of the background, and then a glow layer ontop of it to make them pop out and be affected by the play of light from the background image.
@Blackbarti I understand that, as I kind of thought so as well, but whenever I downed the contrast, the house no longer pulled your gaze from the rest of the light shining through from the top. So I gave myself the excuse that it's a white roofing, so it's refracting the light /that/ intensely. It's why the jellyfish are different levels, to help harmonize the piece together. I love that critique tho! I had the exact same thoughts, but when I saw it with a higher contrast, I did fall in love with it, so it's a personal preference. u/v/u''
I'm so glad you looked at it so critically, and that you still enjoyed it overall.
Addition of Apples
I went ahead and changed values and added a glow of a light source and hahaha -fidgets timidly- I like more of a pinker apple than yellow one? I'm very used to Honeycrisps and Pink Ladies for my apple intake, so I thought to imitate those here. I'll let you guys use the before image you have, since we all should have the same image to work off of.
I didn't add too many tho! Clip Studio does /not/ like color picking... and sai is forever hopeless with it's selection tool.
I already know these basics of anatomy so I'm going to jump ahead with just making sure I apply figure drawing. I know I never do it enough in the first place. Last time I did it, it took a while to get in the flow of ignoring details, and I wound up with this oldie when I finally succeeded:
So I have no clue how I'm gonna post the every day gesture/figure drawing without it being a bit convoluted in space here, so I think I might just archive links and add each day to the previous post.
Also, @marc your perspective lessions are on point. You are the first person to ever get me to finally understand perspective.... and I thank you so much for that...
Side note: I still hate drawing buildings but I'll do my best, as well.
BAD NEWS BEARS
I accidentally slit up my drawing hand's index finger.
Idk how long it'll be until I can grip a pen with it [well], since idk how long it's gonna take to heal.
Good news, I don't need stitches.
I'm letting myself down big time; right when I started to get healthy and overcome these illnesses. -sighs heavily-
M'kay that's an update from this klutz; use my bad luck as a warning to yours to stay good. <3
@finny That's awesome to hear Looking forward to checking out the assignments for it!
My hand isn't fully finished healing, and I've been having this unfortunate crisis about what I want to achieve as an artist, and what career I want/should pursue. It's something I've never fully looked into, with a lot of melodrama and control from my family as to what is "worth my time and what can get the most money", as problematic as that is.
I am working on making a manga, but have been a bit too anxious to start any progress beyond character images.
And to be honest, I'm apparently being really stubborn about the gesture drawings. I'll get to starting them up again this week though.
Thanks to you if you read this kinda long update-y thing I feel like I need to explain to you guys for my bad/poor interactions at this current time.
Art socializing is very new to me, despite how doing art for so long hasn't been.
ANYWAY srsly if anyone wants to chat about/beyond the class and art, I really am happy and open to doing so in all the socially available platforms I'm on, okay? For when I disappear here from social anxiety.
