So this thread should wind up a good bit longer because this is what I am aiming to do right now.

Anyways, first concept in progress, obviously the full figure has not been moved forward much at all yet (Just a tiny bit of face shaping), I will be working on that tomorrow.

Outside of the full character, any input on the thumbnails or choices at all?

The 2 in the red box I think work a little better with your theme. The one on the bottom right can be very cool as well. The current one reads as an effected human which is fine for the first part of your theme. The aggressive looks of the other 2 work well with the theme you have. I can see you were thinking of having some weapons which would fit the theme more than the cloth/robe aesthetics you have going on.
I recommend giving the current one some kind of weapon if you want to move forward with it. You can probably give her a weapon like a spear, vine weapon, big claw hands or even a fungus gun. Just some kind of hunter weapon. Thinking a bit about the story as far as what she hunts can help.

@malcom Yes that does help a great deal. The funny thing is I keep hearing positive comments on that bottom right image, but I just kinda tossed it up there as a larf, might have to do that one if I hear many more comments. And your comments helped me realize that I was going with a boring silhouette, thank you.

So this post today is a bit more related to older content, but it is relevant to this term as well of course. Ive been messing around with sizes and shapes and trying to get the concept of the skin and how it falls atop muscles, and I need input from other eyes.

There are clearly issues and its still moving along, but, A, B, neither?

Input is needed and appreciated from everyone.

You've already noted you have some mistakes but other than that, I like B if your using that body for the Hunter Character.

Progressing along. More work to do, but I've got to cut up some pumpkins for my kids today!

Cleaned up grey-scale. Color and lights next. I seem to have issues with wanting to zoom in on details too much, gotta work on that. At least I never zoom past 100% now.

Any input on grey-scale from anybody?

Hey, @PeterH!
I like how you progressed with a grayscale.
I would just make the arms more in shadow because they seem to be under these wing-like shoulders. Same goes for the leg on the left that appears to be half covered by a piece. Also i think the breast piece is also gonna be casting a shadow because it appears to be hanging freely on her.
So just try to think of where your light source coming from and what parts of the character are gonna be in shadow

I did a quick example for you in case i messed up my explanation.

Thanks, I feel just super silly now, I was kind of bashing my head wondering why my rudimentary coloring looked so bad. I completely forgot to do the lighting before jumping to colors.

Trying to take Marcs comments to heart, think the second one came out much better already, more focus on the hero shape, and putting that shape into the character more. It seems like that is the best way to start out, so I'm going to keep at it like this.

Also going to step the rendering way the hell back, because there is no reason to go nuts.

Appreciate any comments, and please do tell me what you think is going on here, I really do want to know if I have managed to illustrate the point (I tried much harder this time)

Also, color!

Another sheet of ideas, Thinking a bit more about cultures and textures as the shape language this time. I like the thumb nail ideas a lot more this time. They flowed out much more easily, so I had to constrain myself.

Appreciate any thoughts anyone might have.

And as I put it up, I poke my own holes! I forgot about the fine details, like battle damage and markings and whatnot! Ill have to do that at some point here.

In your hero shape the color plates aren't as round as you have them on your character. I think she can use a more stand out color near her face as well. Everything around her face is kinda dark but the pants are really saturated. Maybe add something red near her face or head to balance things. Also take the logo you have and put that on her as well.

Other than those things, She's looking good.

Thanks! I kept on staring at this thinking it was too busy, but actually hitting on the solution is still a bit out of my reach, I really appreciate the advice @malcom .

I pushed and corrected the focus, dropped the yellow (because it just reminded me too much of classic xmen Rogue) And put in some quick 3p lighting. I also put up the red in the hair and decided it looked much nicer as well. Thanks again Malcom.

This works a lot better. I think changing out the yellow was a nice choice. Adding the logo on her face and arms is a nice touch as well. It really gives her more character.
I hope you don't mind, but I did a quick paint over with some written feedback on the sides.

You have a solid design with a really cool silhouette. Each update is looking better and better. Keep up the good work.

Man, thank you so much for the paint over, I NEVER mind them, a wonderful gift!

And I gotta say, holy crap my anatomy fell apart as I worked, once you pointed out the knee and the arm I realized that I had somehow completely changed the angle of her shoulders while I worked (Think it was that bear poof behind her head, the angle is just wrong), so she now has demon arms. And my knee was just clearly in the wrong place, little stumpy shins.

More over, she also obtained a big ol paunchy gut, crazy huge shoulderblades, lost a breast, broke her wrist and her left knee.... man, battle was harsh to her.

But happily I LOVE drawing anatomy! Woo! So she is now topless and looking human again.

Just wanted to say thanks while I took a tiny break. Very much appreciate the help.

No problem at all. Glad I can help somewhat. I figured the poof made it hard. Another tip is to just keep a backup anatomy only layer so you can check things from time to time.

Well this wound up being near a complete redraw, but it was still fun.

Anatomy is corrected and I will not mess with that after I have a good naked figure in the future, because man did I mess with it a lot.

Also I just couldn't get my idea for the legs to work, so I swapped over to flat plates that are modeled after the iron plates on samurai armor, and made sure it worked with the hero shape first. My ratios are a bit off from the shape, primarily the amount of pigtails, but the idea is all there.

Also putting some of the light stuff to work now.
