Hi guys!

It's been a while since I posted here, but I really need some input on a painting I'm trying to make. This is based on a french myth, where cats were supposedly getting left-over food from their owners and putting it on an oddly shaped rock on the day of Mardi Gras. There would have been a dark figure seen standing near the rock, and the cats would start dancing around it. If humans interrupted them, they would be attacked by the furious cats.

I thought it would make for a nice Halloween themed picture!

So my main elements need to be:
1) the dark figure (a demon or a witch)
2) the little rock at the feet of the dark figure
3) the cats

I really like what I did with the colors in #1, but I feel like the composition may be stronger in #2. I think I can do better though, and I'm not sure how.

Thanks in advance!

I like the colors in the first one as well but, the red might work good too. One thing that stands out is the scale in both pieces. The cats feel huge in both versions. Having this kind of robe like clothing in the first adds mystery to the figure in the back. Adding that design element with the second version silhouette can work well. A robed figure with horns can seems pretty scary at night in some woods. Some kind of glowing element can add to that spookiness feel to the overall piece.
If you were to go with the blue background, then yellow eyes can do the trick.
Maybe the rock has some kind of spooky symbols on it that glow to attract the cats. Besides the lighting from the moon, I feel like the scene would need some more light sources or things would feel to dark.
Hopefully that helps. I think the idea is cool and interesting so I look forward to seeing what you do with this.
