Hello everyone! First of all I would like to thanks everyone who greeted me last last week. I really appreciate the warm welcome, and I hope to foster friendships with you all! Anyways for this weeks progress (I'm late), here are my outputs:

To start, here is my output for the dream house. I specifically chose a tropical setting since I love the ocean, the sun, the ocean breeze, generally just the vibes a beach gives. I chose a Japanese castle since I find them very interesting to look at and the way they are constructed. The question is, does it fit in a tropical setting? We'll find out once we actually built one on a beach.

Next is the apples assignment. Well this was easy for me since I've been using Photoshop for as long as I remember and understand its tools (somewhat) well (how it functions, where and when to use it for etc.) But of course, I still followed Master Marc's tutorial since there are some tools that I haven't been able to used before like the dodge tool and the burn tool.

Then the make someone older assignment. I enjoyed this one because this was the first time I extensively used the Healing Brush Tool. And this knowledge will come in handy since I also retouch photos whenever I do photo shoot with models. Also, I really wanted to put the full beard to the target but it looks really weird so I have to scrap that idea xdd

And lastly, the liquify assignment. I really had fun doing this since it challenged me to make an output that is actually decent. I morphed the face of the alien to a face of the guy provided in the assignments. It was kinda difficult since you will really stretch the face of the alien as the face of the guy is wider compared to the lady given in the assignment. I had to meticulously 'massage' some of the parts in order for them not to look stretched that much. I'm just glad it worked well (kinda) lol

Well, that's that for the Photoshop assignments. Onwards to officially start my journey (again) in Figure Drawing, and I'm really excited that I will be taking steps again towards my dream. See you again guys!

Welp, for my recent progress, here are some cylinders. I got really busy this week and here's hoping that I will be able to finish some assignment, especially the 30 sec Gesture Drawing and the cylinders on limbs. And of course some personal drawings to apply my knowledge on drawing.

I do see that sometimes u use multiple strokes for one line - perhaps try to reduce that as you can and make only one solid confident line per... line..

I really missed updating here. Sorry life happened. Anyways for my latest development here is my most recent 1 min gesture drawings:

How does it compare to when I first started? Looking forward for feedback. For me, it's still awkward since I haven't learned any anatomy yet, but I do hope that the energy of the pose is present and can be seen.

On the other hand, I've been practicing basic mannequinization of poses:

I'm really looking forward on the day where I can share presentable personal works for you guys. For now, I'll focus on learning on what needs to be learned and hopefully before the year ends I can post some stuff here. Thank you very much guys!

Yo these studies are pretty good! I see you are using some Reilly abstraction there, where did you learn to use it and if it’s online would you recommend giving it a look? Gestures and mannequins are also very nice, I wouldn’t worry about the anatomy too much at this point, for drawing gestures and figures from reference, you mostly just need to be good at proportions, directions and construction and it seems you have a good foundation

Also @snakker, you should check it out Angel Ganev's resources about portrait drawing. He specifically teaches to use the Reilly Method when drawing portraits, which I use presently. Though right now, I use a mix of Loomis and Reilly. Like when I initially start a portrait I use the Loomis method then transition to Reilly method when I'm plotting the planes of the face. Also thank you for the feedback, I'll keep those in mind

First of all, nice facial construction and drawing. Can't complain much about it

Secondly, is there a reason you pick O'Reilly methods to do your facial construction? Have you tried Loomis method or just a experiment around to see which methods you prefer? Much ike snakker, I'm quite intrigured about O'Reilly methods due to its emphasis on finding the flow which my cartoon work is based on.

Heyy, I'll post my process here when I have free time. And to answer your question. I use a mix both. I prefer using the Loomis Method on the initial stage where we make the circle and determine the angle of the head, and of course plotting of the features like where the nose goes and where the chin is. Then after that I transition to Reilly to determine the planes of the faces. This is useful in shading and painting the face, and helps a lot too to determine the correct proportion of the face and its features.

It'll all make sense once I show my process, but hopefully my explanation alone makes it clear

That makes perfectly clear, thx. Nice to see that you use a mixture of method to suit the best for yourself rather than just rely on 1 method. For me, Loomis method makes more sense technical wise (bc I'm a software engineer lol).
