Didn't have time to post my finished homework from yesterday. I'm finding that I have a hard time getting the art school assignments done according to the weekly schedule published by Marc. I'm of course still working through them whenever I can but my focus is split which makes it difficult.

Next week I'll be moving onto the 3rd week of the schedule which includes the pen control exercises from Marc's youtube video, gesture drawing and lineart of artist I like.

Now, there's a problem. The characters I'm going to be studying are NSFW. Which I think would violate this forums policies. So I doubt I'd be able to post my studies here.

Alright I'm in week 3 now.
For today I've managed to get the line control exercises done but not the rest.
I think I can cut back on the line control exercises and put more time towards the cylinders, skeletons and gesture drawings.

There's also something to be said about being able to use a digital painting software efficiently and I'll be working on that as well. Should help in getting the assignments done faster.

good progress, and yeah digital workflows do take some getting used to. something I'm still working on myself.

As for nudity, any tasteful nudity seems to be OK, I'd just censor it in a similar way Marc does in his videos, with just dots over the naughty bits.

I like the gesture drawings and the studies on cylinders in perspective. The last one looks like a Beerus gender swap to me for some reason. Is this an original character?

Hahah, yeah it kinda does look like beerus.

But yes, its someone else's character that I'm using as a reference. I should add that I also have been doing this study for a while on and off and didn't just squeeze it out in one evening.

I also keep getting pulled around a lot so I'm unable to post my work from Art school.

Decided to be a bit more loose with the cylinders as it is very time consuming to order them the way I have in my previous post.

I'm thinking of cutting back on art school and some of the exercises. Given that my line confidence is pretty decent along with my construction. The thing that continues to baffle me is gesture and how someone can make a pretty convincing figure in just 30s.

I'll be shifting my focus once again, this time towards gesture and mannequin construction so that I can make more progress towards my first goal. I'll also try and throw in a bit of anatomy on the side and try to show what I've been doing in my 50% time spent drawing. I'll be posting my 50% stuff in a separate forum topic under my art blog.

I doubt I'll be able to finish the line art study before the end of this week but it should be fine. Gesture still confuses me so critique is welcome on that. Specifically whether or not I should be able to define the figure more than just stick figures at 30s.

Okay back at it again with the pen control and gestures. Missed yesterday as it was a busy day.

I started doing 1 minute gestures and I really still cannot figure out a way to do them right. Do they have to end up looking like stick figures or do I need to try to add more volume to them.

Anyway here's my homework for the day:

I might have to reduce the amount of work I do on art to focus on getting a better job but who knows. I've been getting better sleep so I should have more time in the day to do things.

Tried Michael Hampton's approach to gesture, it looks better to me but I struggle to get everything in time.

Next week I'm thinking of switching to doing some anatomy study or something similar. Supposedly knowing anatomy can help with gesture.

All your gesture drawings look pretty good! I definitely recommend, if you can, doing that first as a part of your daily routine. even if its just a few for 10 minutes.

I think your next step should be studying the 3 basic parts of the body (Head, Ribcage, pelvis) to learn how to find them and how to draw them as boxes, and then using that knowledge to do the assignments. it's what's helped me the most. Proko has a few videos on that with the robo bean, also Moderndayjames has a few good videos that can help. Dan Bearshaw has a lot of videos on that stuff too with a lot of info.

Busy day today, but still did some practice.

I'm tired and going to go to bed. Next week I'll probably push gestures into my warm-ups instead of doing 30 minutes of them. Will also have a look at the resources suggested by @javier.rojas.hr.

Still continuing my studies.

I've pushed gesture into my warm-ups and have started working on the Proportions assignment. Though I won't be using the sheet provided with the term 1 content and will instead be using Loomis' figure drawing book.

I've omitted the reference images as it would be incredibly time-consuming getting them all together into the image.

I find that recently I haven't been drawing for fun recently, so I might cut back on studies and focus on drawing for the hell of it.

Continuing my Loomis studies. I'll omit the gestures and pen control exercises I've been doing from my posts as they seem good enough to not require strict feedback.

All in all I've been real damn busy trying to get out of my dead-end job on top of adult responsibilities so drawing is a rare side-thing I get to do. I've found FZDSchool's website and youtube channel one of his recommendations is to draw 10 sketches a day, which seems hard but doable.

If I run into any issues in my studies I'll post them here, doesn't seem to be much of a point in sharing my progress otherwise.

I like the proportion study. It looks like the arms are much smaller, and away from the shoulder in the middle one. And the arms looks smaller.
