I really like this idea! 
It took some time to figure out what's going on. Why not give the protaganist some breathing space? Just expand the borders so that you see his full upper body.
I know you're still working on the background, but I don't see much (correct) perspective happening. Maybe you can make a bending path.

The background was mostly a place holder 
there ins't any perspective going on there.
