Hello everyone!
I just heard about this contest yesterday night. As soon as I saw it I told another two friends about it and they agreed to join me in this adventure!
We are going to go Sci-fi. So far we only have some concepts, still pre-planning though.
I personally joined the contest because I wanted to have a goal and for once finish a project. I also don't have much experience working with a team, so this will be awesome.
UPDATE 1
We were so hard at work that we almost forget to Update. The idea we came up with was to create a diorama like project due to time constrains and the lack of experience we currently have.
The scene will include ruins of buildings that we find in the current modern era, ruins of the war that recently ended. Survivors know their crafts very well and have come together to build a new world. Here is where the sci-fi element comes to play for the people will build new experimental structures that will enable them to stay on constant contact with other "colonies"
The work is being divided between my friend Justing and I. He will build the scifi elements while I will built the ruins of the destroyed civilization. I don't have many screenshots of the progress yet, however I can tell you that making ruins is rather a difficult task.
Take this for example.
I created this ruined wall easily by cutting edges here and there, however it was when Justin pointed out to me that my method of ruin creation was flawed because even though I could create walls, then how would I create debris and all the other elements? Currently as Justin is making progress in his buildings I am learning how to fracture objects in 3DS Max and I discovered that provided I learn how to do it properly, this method can actually be a huge time saver.
