Gesture Study: Michael Hampton
Took me about 2-3 weeks but found a way of doing gesture drawing that works for how I think. If you struggle with gesture drawing I highly recommend looking up Michael Hampton Gesture Lecture on youtube.
Decided to learn some different warm ups that I can start doing.
Good practice there! Congrats
Todays Practice/Assignment
Term 1: Skele Photo Assignment
These started out being very difficult at the beginning. Gonna need to do more of these practicing where to place the ribcage and pelvis.
Good practice! The joints of the upper leg should start on the same "side" of the pelvis box. Look at the skeleton you drew. Same thing for the joints of the arms attached to your ribcage box Hope this helps?
A few Torso/Head construction studies. Not sure if I like using a full box for the pelvis, might look at some other forms closer to that of the pelvis bone.
Todays gesture drawing and felt the difference when you devote 1 hour to do warm ups before hand. The blueprint bit is my way of thinking about gesture drawing in the grand scheme of things. How they should clearly portray the idea/movement of a pose and be able to lead into the construction phase.
Result of the class mode in the gesture drawing app, and learning to relax when I'm drawing is really helping.
Working on the placement and spacing of the pelvis and ribcage boxes. A few Proko ones also.
Last one for today
That's a lot of figures. Super nice!
Todays practice was focused on finding Lines of Action and the spine.
Images are from Grafit Studio.
Some perspective and ear practice
Today consisted of working on the Cylinders, Construction, and 1p Perspective.I've also been focusing on breaking the mindset barrier between Practicing and Sketching which has benefit me greatly.
What's the barrier between practicing and sketching? That sounds interesting!
